high school roundup from satLA JOLLA -- The Newport Harbor High boys’ water polo team rebounded from two prior losses and defeated Bishop’s of La Jolla, 11-9, Saturday in San Diego.

The Tars outscored the Knights, 3-1, in the fourth quarter for the difference in the match.

Clay Jorth led the Sailors with four goals, while Parker Gregory and Kyle Sherman both added two scores.

Santa Barbara Tournament of Champions

SANTA BARBARA -- Newport Harbor won two matches en route to winning the consolation bracket of the Tournament of Champions.

The Sailors defeated Bishop Montgomery, 25-16, 25-19, 25-18, in the consolation semifinals, as Megan Tolman totaled 10 kills and Megan Munce tallied nine kills.

In the consolation finals, the Tars beat Bakersfield Christian, 26-24, 25-18, 24-26, 25-21.

Megan Tolman posted 22 kills while Bryana Carey had 15 kills and four service aces.
