Lightning girls capture third at Mount SAC

The Sage Hill girls’ cross country team took third place in the Division V sweepstakes race at the Mount SAC Invitational on Friday.
The Lightning finished behind Chadwick and Flintridge Prep in the race, contested at Mount San Antonio College in Walnut.
Katie McKeon led Sage Hill, finishing 11th in the race with a time of 20:46. Mackenzie Muhonen was 18th at 21:12. Cait Williamson followed with a mark of 21:16, good for 21st.
Also running for the Lightning were Aiyana Bombrownicki (21:40) and Kelsey Rose (22:29).
BOYS’ CROSS COUNTRY
Mount SAC Invitational
WALNUT -- Sage Hill finished seventh with 178 points in the Division V sweepstakes race.
The top finisher for the Lightning was Connor Rose in 22nd place with a time of 16:58.
Zach Chandy finished in 37th in 17:48. Sean McElroy was 43rd, completing the course in 17:59.
Also running for the Lightning were Tyler Ellis, who finished in 18:04, and Troy Astorino in 18:32.
GIRLS’ TENNIS
Sage Hill 17,
Oxford Academy 1
NEWPORT BEACH -- Stephanie Langer won all her 18 games as host Sage Hill defeated Oxford Academy, 17-1, in Academy League play.
The Lightning won all nine singles matches. Sarah Geocaris lost only three games, sweeping her sets, 6-0, 6-2, 6-1.
In doubles, the team of Ali Hsu and Erica Spivack won, 6-1, 6-0, 6-3.
The Patriots were able to win a doubles match as Emily Choi and Rachel Om won 6-4 in the second round of sets.
Sage Hill will play host to Whitney on Tuesday.
Academy League

Singles -- Geocaris (SH) def. Kim, 6-0, def. Park, 6-2, def. Suk, 6-1; Langer (SH) won, 6-0, 6-0, 6-0; Adams (SH) won, 6-1, 6-2, 6-1.
Doubles -- Graham-Smrcek (SH) def. Baik-Phan, 6-4, def. Choi-Om, 6-1, def. Liao-Zeo, 6-3; Hsu-Spivack (SH) won, 6-1, 6-0, 6-3; Han-Carerras (SH) won, 6-1, lost 6-4, won 6-0.
BOYS’ WATER POLO
Corona del Mar 12,
Capistrano Valley 4
CORONA DEL MAR -- Jacob Murphy scored four goals as the Sea Kings coasted to a nonleague victory.
Corona del Mar took a 10-1 lead at the half and never looked back.
Tom Money and Kyle Hersh added two goals apiece for the Sea Kings (9-10). Goalkeeper Phillip DiGiacomo made four saves.
Corona del Mar returns to Pacific Coast League play Wednesday at Laguna Beach.
