Eagles clinch league

COSTA MESA -- Estancia clinched at least a share of its third straight Golden West League girls’ tennis title with a 14-4 rout of Westminster on Thursday.

Estancia won eight of nine singles sets. Sarah Stratton and Ellie Edles swept their singles sets for the Eagles (13-2, 10-0).

GIRLS’ TENNIS

Newport Harbor 10,

Woodbridge 8

IRVINE -- The doubles team of Chrissy Schwartz and Sasha Dunlap swept its sets in a Sea View League match Thursday.

Brittanny Sturgess took two of three singles sets. The team of Melissa Chinn and Brittany Cluck won its first match. The team of Alex McIntosh and Megan McKay came back from a 5-1 deficit to win its second-round set, 7-6 (7-4).

Corona del Mar 13, Tesoro 5

The Sea Kings won seven of nine doubles sets in Pacific Coast League action.

The doubles team of Danielle Kaiden and Lindsay Zotovich swept its sets. Singles players Rachael Miller, Michelle Atkins and Flora Lee took two of three sets each for the Sea Kings (14-2 overall, 9-0 in league).

BOYS’ WATER POLO

Estancia 9, Bolsa Grande 7

GARDEN GROVE -- Chad Kunert led the way with eight goals for Estancia in a 9-7 nonleague victory over Bolsa Grande. Leonard Juska made eight saves in goal for the Eagles (11-6).

Sage Hill 15,

Garden Grove 8

CORONA DEL MAR -- The Lightning outscored the Argonauts in a nonleague match at Corona del Mar High. Julian Tooma led Sage Hill with six goals. Beau Caillouette added five scores in the victory. Danny Harold made seven saves in the match for Sage Hill (11-6)

IRVINE -- The Sailors stayed undefeated in league, narrowly beating the Warriors in five games, 25-19, 25-13, 19-25, 19-25, 18-16.

Bryana Carey led the Tars with 15 kills, four blocks and four service aces. Megan Munce contributed 20 assists, 10 kills and four blocks.

Corona del Mar def. Tesoro

NEWPORT BEACH -- The Sea Kings edged Tesoro, 25-22, 17-25, 25-23, 20-25, 16-14, in Pacific Coast League action. Julianne Piggott led the way with 14 kills and 16 digs. Kasey Kipp tallied eight blocks and Brooke Terry added 20 assists for the Sea Kings (5-11 overall, 5-4 in league).

FIELD HOCKEY

Newport Harbor 0

HUNTINGTON BEACH -- The Newport Harbor High girls’ field hockey team fell to Marina in a tight Sunset League battle. The Sailors fell to 18-4 overall and 6-2 in league. The Newport Harbor junior varsity team remained undefeated with a 4-1 win over Marina. Amanda Shaw led the way with two goals.

GIRLS’ GOLF

Estancia 236, Orange 266

SANTA ANA -- The Eagles won their first Golden West League title at Riverview Golf Course. Bridgett Gleason led Estancia (15-2, 8-0), shooting a 4-over-par 39. Lina You fired a 41, and Caroline Clements contributed a 45.

Foothill 208,

Newport Harbor 230

SANTA ANA -- The Newport Harbor High girls’ golf team remained winless after dropping a close match at the Riverview Golf Club.

Iko Kagasoff led the way, shooting a 38. Kendall Horn shot a 43 and Tiffany Kim had a 44 for the Sailors (0-13, 0-8 in the Sea View League).
