Santiago Canyon College honors library professor

Leah Freidenrich, a longtime Laguna resident, will receive Santiago Canyon College’s 2005 Faculty Excellence Award Tuesday, the highest honor bestowed by colleagues on a faculty member. Freidenrich is a library faculty member at the community college, located in Orange.

Freidenrich will deliver a special lecture, “The Future of the Book in the Electronic Age,” at the Tuesday event, and her name will be added to a perpetual plaque with previous winners. She will also receive a $2,500 cash award.

Freidenrich has worked at the college since 1993, and her areas of expertise include technology and applications in librarianship, Internet search engine strategies and the psychology of librarianship.

She holds a bachelor’s degree in English literature and a master’s degree in library and information science from USC.
