A canine storm victim
The Laguna Beach Animal Shelter is doing its part to help
hurricane-ravaged Louisiana by fostering a 12-year-old dog they have
named Peggy.
Another dog, a sheltie, which made its way to the shelter after
becoming homeless during the hurricane, has been claimed by its
owner, who identified the dog on the Internet.
Peggy is a black Labrador-shepherd mix rescued on Sept. 18 from
St. Bernard’s Parish, La., by the Society for the Prevention of
Cruelty to Animals of Los Angeles.
The facility will foster the dog until Dec. 31.
The shelter is looking for someone to take over fostering duties,
with the potential for permanent adoption should the original owner
not claim the dog.
The shelter will help with any medical expenses needed for Peggy.
Peggy, who is deaf, has suffered from several broken teeth, an
infection of the eyes and a flea infestation.
Despite Peggy’s troubles, she has maintained an affectionate
demeanor.
Owners of lost pets may look for their animals on the Society for
the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals website, o7www.spcala.comf7.
