Irvine group acquires Costa Mesa company
Magellan Media, a Costa Mesa-based video production company, was
recently acquired by the Irvine-based Post Modern Group.
The deal was announced Monday. Financial terms were not disclosed.
The merger became final Oct. 3, said Mike Pearce, the Post Modern
Group’s creative services director. He and Magellan Media founder
Greg Jacobs described the deal as a logical combination. “Why not
just merge and have one big powerhouse?” Jacobs said. He said he
wants Post Modern Group to become the largest production house in
Orange County.
Newport firm joins Wi-Fi consortium
Newport Beach-based Conexant Inc. is one of 27 companies included
in the newly-announced Enhanced Wireless Consortium. The group was
formed to develop industrywide standards for future developments in
Wi-Fi technology.
“We’re kind of like friendly competitors,” Conexant spokeswoman
Gwen Carlson said.
The companies want to develop performance standards that would
allow for compatibility between wireless technologies developed by
different manufacturers. Wireless network standards are governed by
the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers.
