Salon offers kindest cuts

Studio Six Salon in Newport Beach offered a $25 shampoo and haircut

special on Sunday, with all proceeds going to a hurricane relief

fund.

Salon owner and hairstylist Janet Calton said they raised $200,

which they are giving to Calvary Chapel to distribute to hurricane

victims.

The first customer, Bob Morey of Portland, Ore., said he was

driving by and saw the girls holding signs promoting the haircut

special. He said he had just been thinking how he was due for a

haircut, so it was perfect timing.

Hairstylist Frankie Jones said the fundraiser was her idea. She

worked at another salon that did something similar, and it was hugely

successful. She said it also helps get the name out and build

clientele.

Studio Six, which was Ron’s Barbershop for about 30 years, has

been open three months, Calton said. She remodeled it with a

Polynesian theme, she said, because it’s relaxing and suits the

location, which is blocks from the beach.

Studio Six is located at 2400 West Coast Highway, Suite 6, in

Newport Beach. The number is (949) 631-2411.
