Code Red wins, claims first place
South Coast Code Red gained sole possession of first place in the
girls’ under-14 Silver Central Division of the Coast Soccer League by
defeating the Fullerton Rangers, 3-0.
The win came a day after Code Red suffered a 1-0 shutout loss to
the Wolfpack.

Code Red broke away after a scoreless first half to blank the
Rangers.
The backfield of Lauren Hanson, Maylett Roldan, Jodi Hwang, Erica
Cabibbo and Rachel Pasternak kept the Rangers scoreless in the first
half.
The Code Red offense came to life in the second half. The first of
three goals came from Erika Longoria off a cross in front of the net
by Kelly Mitsumori. Code Red struck again moments later when Rebecca
Cruz broke past several defenders and planted a shot into the net.
A midfield composed of Osiris Ceja, Andrea Ecker, Alison Hensley,
Alli Budd and Breanne Justice stepped up the Code Red attack and set
up the final goal of the match. That score came when a missed shot
rebounded off the Rangers goalie and was quickly put away by Kirsten
Marony.
Tiffany Van Tress and Ashley Haprov worked the Code Red net to
team for the shutout.

Knockouts 3, Fuchsia Fever 0
The shutout moved the Knockouts into first place in the division.
The Knockouts took a 1-0 halftime lead when Nicky Gonzalez scored
off a pass from Nicole Brashears.
The defensive pressure of Amanda Garske, Kathryn Hopfensberger,
Amira Sewzyk, Megan Waldeck and Blake Wetzel of Fuchsia Fever limited
the Knockouts to a single first-half goal. On the other side, Jessica
Alvarez, Lauren Crawford and Alissa Mowrey provided a strong
defensive charge for the Knockouts in the first half.
The Knockouts gained some breathing room in the second half when
Allie Knobbe and Lindsay Conlisk each scored.
Sweeper Katelyn Serrano and midfielders Allison McCaughtry,
Melissa Morse and Bethany Treskes contributed to the shutout.
Under-10 Division
Soccer Sisters 5, Wiki Wiki Wahines 0
The Soccer Sisters blistered the net for four goals in the first
half in defeating the Wiki Wiki Wahines.
Jessyca Lackey opened the scoring when she scored off a pass from
Devon Graber. Simone Corkett went on to score consecutive goals --
the first off an assist from Jamie Fox -- and Dana Conlisk added a
goal that was aided by Lackey to complete the 4-0 first half run.
Madeline Fox scored off a feed from Conlisk to account for the
only scoring in the second half.
The Soccer Sisters defense was anchored by Krista Apardian and
Sarah Chacon, with Alex Holloway working in goal.
