Costa Mesa 4, South Irvine 0: Juan Becerra scored two goals.
Defenders Matt Kirchberg, Luu Nguyen and Jacob Hurd were hard to stop
and hard to score on.

Girls under 16
Corona del Mar 2, Costa Mesa Code Blue 0: Corona del Mar remained
undefeated, beating host Blue Code in a competitive match. Bayley
Sprowls scored in the midst of traffic. In the second half, the
defensive play by Taylor Rhodes, Chelsea Giger, Ariana Condon and
Alix Condon led the way. Julie Kramer scored the final goal of the
game with an assist from Breezy Brewster. The goalkeeping chores were
shared by Cecily Lewis and Angie Seagren.
Girls under 14
Eureka 1, Flaming Pepperoni 0: Corona del Mar’s Flaming Pepperonis
held the Costa Mesa Eureka to a single goal as they fell to the Costa
Mesa team, 1-0. The Pepperonis strong defense was anchored by Amy
Arnesen at goalkeeper. Torrey Attyah, Jaden Heinecke, Molly Vorwerck
and Natalie Rempalski all had shots on goals.
Boys under 12
Predators 3, Blues Brothers 2: Teddy Parks scored the winning goal
late in the fourth quarter for the Predators. Max Mulcahy centered a
perfect pass from James Valentine to set up the game winner. Chad
Arico took possession of the ball deep in Blues Brothers territory to
start the drive. Ian Jang scored two goals from 15 yards out for the
Predators. The first came late in the first quarter on assists from
Chris Weinberger and a centering pass from Valentine. The second came
midway through the third quarter after passes from Alexander
Greenberg to Max Mulcahy to Teddy Parks. Zach Salaam, Jonathon
Iacobelli, Austin Swenson, Spencer Carey and Tanner Grandstaff
anchored a balanced team defense in front of Predator goalkeepers
Taylor Matteson, Grandstaff and Chad Arico.
Girls under 8
Teal Tornadoes, Pink Puppies: Emily Spain, Goldi Eisenberger and
Claire Danner bravely guarded the goalie box. Danielle Sparling
scored a high goal with a nice assist from Leila Modjtahedi. Sarah
Reynoso had a beautiful shot on goal. Vanessa Grasso, Danielle
Sparling and Carly Micheal were all over the field on defense and
offense and shot a goal in the third quarter.
Girls under 7
Blue Dolphins: The highlight of the game came on a corner kick
from Breena to Britany passing through the defenders to Sydney who
one-touched the ball for an amazing goal. Karina was allusive
dribbling added a couple of goals, Lauren came inches away from
scoring a goal, while Ashley, Cambria, and Alyssa controlled the
midfield forming a wall on the Dolphin’s side of the field.
Boys under 7
Growling Gators, Blue Thunder: Will O’Connor scored a hat trick,
Ryan Shean added an additional goal for the Gators. Julian Ricci and
Jack Mouchawar provided assists. The Gator’s defensive effort was led
by Connor Johnston, Michael Ferry, Jacob Cooper and Andrew Sweeney.
Silver Bullets: Jake Meyer Leif Hellgren, Leyton Bond and Robert
Droka all scored. Trenton Roberts and Logan Naddy made some excellent
long kicks. Nate Padgham and James Kratzberg played solid defense.
Boys under 6
Silver Sharks: Tanner and Nico made great passes to each other,
setting themselves up for goals. Robert Leigh did a good job of
coming up with contested balls. Red Rockets, Mighty Tigers: Evan
Siegel, Morgan Cortens and Charlie Jacobs all scored goals. Matthew
Keasey, Max Caliger and Tommy Vanis all provided assists. Alexander
Taxman and Henry Wilde performed well on defense.
Girls under 5
Pink Buttferflies, Razzle Dazzle Berries: Sara Cargile, Isabella
DiGiorgio, Alexis Garbers, Emily Johnson, Maggie Pietsch, Erica
Roque, Anna Steelberg and Kate Wirta all scored goals.
AYSO Region 97 Soccer
Boys under 10
North Irvine 1, Newport Mesa Mavericks 0: Goalkeeper Ryan Braun
led the Mavericks’ defense in the first half. Fullbacks Cash Swank,
Landon Knight and Caleb Oneil stopped the Irvine team cold. Halfbacks
Jack Binford, Baron Davis and Malcom Fagan excelled in the first
half. The game’s lone goal came off an Irvine break and rebound in
front of the Newport goal with about two minutes to go in the 3rd.
Ryan Braun, Peter Seidner, Dominic Faulkner and Nick Roman all had
shots on the goal in the fourth quarter.
Boys under 12
Brown 5, Barry 0: Charlie Pena scored two goals. Blake Smith,
Nolan Mean and Cory Kroger each added one goal to Brown’s total.
Goalkeepers CJ Tona, Ryan Davidson, and Paul Wiesinger stopped every
shot kicked at him in the goal.
Girls under 10
Crazy Eights 2, Slimers 1: The Slimers scored in the first
quarter. In the third quarter, the Eights Reo Nathan scored. Brooke
Meer, Julia Frei and Riley Rickman,Mackenzie Gaddis and Rachel
Whitelegge combined passes to Analysa Vivanco who then put the ball
in the goal with a long kick to put the Crazy Eights ahead. Kellie
Melendres, Jenna Jarvis and Jessica Ochoa all played great defense to
help goalkeeper Alex Vazquez.
Blackwidows 4, Spongbobs 2: Hailey Smith, Taylor Long, Regan
Rutter and Sophia Jeffries did a super job protecting Amanda Sheppard
and Abbey Pickettin the net. Haley Clevland and Abbey scored the
teams goals. The goals were set up by Savannah Baron and Laura
Mariano. Natalie Molstad andDaniella Carreseplayed both sides of the
ball with great team spirit.
Purple People Eaters 2, Dominators 0: The Eaters’ Mallory Gyulay
scored twice with assists by Kathryn De La Torre. Great defensive
play by Leah Van Dyke and Breyanna Komadina-Ripke kept the Dominators
out of the goal. The Dominators’ Haily Desprez, Kira Wandrocke, Xena
Zwirner and McKenzie Stephens covered the midfield. Olivia Sever,
Savannah Fausto, Danielle Cipolla, Mackenzie Hyde and Bryn Crowell
put on both offensive and defensive pressure. Gabrielle Shelly and
Kassidy McCullough displayed goalkeeping skills.
Cotton Candy Crew 4, Bully Bulldogs 1: Midfielder Libby Knight
converted two steals into goals in the first quarter to give the Crew
a quick start. Midfielder Nadine Lefler had two shots on goal in the
quarter, but both failed to find the back of the net. Goalkeeper
Taylor Kalatschan, Evelyn Stephans, Matilda Higman and Kenya Avila
stopped the Bulldogs from scoring for the half. Natalie Ward hit
Rachel DiGiambattista and Cassidy Davis on several break away
attempts in the third quarter. Ward scored with a nice crossover
move. Cassidy Davis who took a rebound off the goal post and drilled
a right footer into the back of the net.
Boys under 10
Tigers 6, Green Geckos 3: Antonio Rossi started the game at
goalkeeper. Wil Hinkleman scored the first goal. David Esquibel, Joe
Janssen and Alex Armbruster provided solid defense. In the second
half, Patrick Halle made some exceptional goal saves. Wil Crook
scored the third goal. Riley Gaddis had goal attempts throughout the
game. Charlie Crook and Peter Conde made a number of defensive stops.
The goals were scored by Luke Mueller, Parker Young and Max
Gamboa, assisted by Jehu Jogwe, John Redoutey, TJ Tarazevits and
Sawyer Farmer. The defense was led by Daniel Pham, Jonathan Jenkins
and Austin Lemoine. Duke Walker shined as the goalkeeper.
Goosebumps 4, Quiksilver 3: David Schaefer scored the first goal
assisted by Campbell D’Eliscu. The Goosebumps had a fast break and
tied the game. In the second half, Rory Fleming scored with an assist
by Mikey Lugo. The tough defense of Killian Headington, Alex Kerr,
Brandon Rawson, Daniel Ross and Cole Sorenson held them at bay. In
the fourth quarter, goalkeeper Bobby Kearns punted the ball to
Campbell D’Eliscu who then dribbled down the field and passed the
ball to Zach Buggeln for the final goal for the Quiksilvers.
Boys under 8
Blue Crew, Red Reptiles: The Blue Crew were led by Jack Rapillo
and Andrew Laidlaw. Dante Amodeo, Matt Lightner and Jeremiah Sheldon
played strong defense. Andrew English, Morgan Lunsford and Alex Lobel
all had good contributions with timely plays.
Girls under 7
Sassy Green Dolphins, Purple Shooting Stars:
McKenzie Porteous was aggressive and dribbled the ball toward the
goal throughout the game. Madeline Phillips, Allison Hanscom turned
back one offensive drive after another. Karly Pearson, Abby Sauerborn
and Claire Tofoya remained energetic throughout the game. Anne
O’Connor and Olivia Dykes supported on both offense and defense.
Blue Angels, Red Volcanoes: Destry Comp scored the only goal for
the Angels. Rayna Richardson and Siena Amoroso both played well on
offense. Paula Pedrani and Laura Mackenzie worked hard on defense.
Riley De Castroverde, Jenna Eakin and Lauren Henke played the
midfield.
Banana Splits, Butterfly Pumpkins:
Offensively, the team was lead by Nicole Sanchez, Saylor Nedelman,
Caroline Wilkes and Hanna Mitchell. Strong defensive efforts were
provided by Zoe Conley, Elizabeth Wilson, Olivia Burg, Kendall
Machado and Heather Roberts. Alyssa Wilkens had a shutout during her
quarter as goalkeeper.
Boys under 7
Green Dragons, Flying Tigers:
Connor Kincaid and Corbin Joyce scored goals. Chad Deegan, Ridge
Knutsen, Ben Crawford, Garret Donath, Jack Frederikson, Spencer Neal
and Kevin Palmerdefiant provided excellent passes. The Flying Tigers
were led with goals by T.J. Morton & Isaiah Elzie. Marley Aragon,
Harrison White and Ryan Sarvak showed off their aggressive passing.
The defense of Jack Sandy, Will Campbell and Nikola Knaeps kept the
game close.
Bulldogs, Lightning: Joshua Jenkins scored his first goal of the
season. Christopher Bailey, Nicolas Garcia and Zachary Dunham played
well. The Lightning’s Cole Kinder stopped stopped many shots. The
Bulldog’s Max Gerken and Chandler Siemonsma sizzled.
Boys under 6
Goblins, Lava Rocks: Tommy Manly and Josh Gehlke spirited a tough
defense. Two goals were scored by Cole McFetters. A group goal was
credited to Gates Johnson, Seth Roberts, Jake Thomas and Vincent
Rubino.
For the Lava Rocks, Marcus Croxson had three shots on goal. Scott
Ryder scored two goals. Tanner Shallahamer scored a goal assisted by
Max Sandberg. Cole Schneider and Dean Carden each take shots on goal.
In the backfield, Dillon Lippman played great defense.
Stingrays, Dragons: Stingrays Blake Richter and Nate Chamberlain
both scored goals. Jack Raventos and Lucas Ovalle were instrumental
in the Stingrays offense, keeping the ball in Dragon territory. Dax
Maxwell, Billy Hanck and Billy White both played excellent defense
and added to the Stringrays offensive effort.
Green Bulldogs, Killer Blue Rays: Joe Skinner scored all four
goals for the Bulldogs in their game against the Killer Blue Rays on
Saturday. On defense Jack Brennan, Sam Lohr and Cameron Hanson
stopped several Killer Blue Ray attacks. Ben Zehnder, Ian McKasson
and Billy Shannon assisted on the goals and provided support on
defense.
Boys under 5
Red Rockets, The Mighty Gators: . Micah Kunkle, Dan Suzuki and
Peyton Detloff all scored goals. Christopher Loucks and Gavin Connor
performed well on defense.
Coast Soccer League
Girls under 10
Irvine Lasers 2, Tustin Premier 0: Caroline Famiglietti scored a
goal on an indirect penalty kick. Noelle Gooding added another goal
on a pass from Maren Martinez. Tara Terpening and Grayson Galbraith
had many saves and combined for the shutout for the surging Irvine
Lasers.
Girls under 9
Irvine Lasers 8, Slammers 0: The lasers kept the pressure on the
Slammers the entire game. The pressure led to eight unanswered goals
by the Irvine Lasers. This win was a result of a team effort. Each
player contributed to the victory.
