Mesa Verde Country Club member and Newport Beach resident Peter

Daley carded a 7-over-par 149 over 36 holes and finished second in

the Southern California Golf Association Super Senior Amateur

championship that concluded Sept. 27 at Pauma Valley Country Club.

Daley (71-78), a four-time club champion at Mesa Verde, was edged

by Fullerton’s Robert Carver, who shot a two-day total of 142 (71-71)

on the 6,317-yard course.

Newport Beach resident Ron Ramsey shot a two-day score of 155

(78-77) and tied for eighth in the SCGA Senior Amateur championship

that concluded on the same date at Pauma Valley. Costa Mesa’s Steve

Rhorer tied for 10th with a 157 (78-79).

Women sought

* The Newport Beach Women’s Golf Association, which plays out of

the Newport Beach Golf Course, is currently welcoming new members.

All you have to do to join is play five rounds of golf and average a

105 or better. If you do that, you can join the group, which plays

every Monday at 7:30 a.m. The dues are $65 a year and you’re

guaranteed a tee time every Monday morning.

The group has meetings every second Monday of each month and gives

out prizes for holes in one, closest to the pin, and lowest net score

of the month, among others. Each December is playoff time to

determine who the No. 1 golfer is for the year.

Golf event for Bubba

* Estancia High Athletic Booster Club is happy to present the

first annual Bubba Kapko Memorial Golf Tournament. The tournament

will take place at the Costa Mesa Country Club’s Los Lagos course on

Monday, Nov. 14. Registration takes place from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m.

There is an 11 a.m. shotgun start. Brian “Bubba” Kapko died in a car

accident just one year after graduating from Estancia High. As a
