Sailors edge Warriors
The Newport Harbor High girls tennis team captured a 10-8 Sea View
League victory over visiting Woodbridge Tuesday.
In singles, Jill Casserly, Chrissy Schwartz and Brittany Sturgess
each took two of three sets, improving the Sailors to 7-1 overall.

Sage remains perfect
* VOLLEYBALL: Sage Hill School volleyball standouts Cat Dailey,
Vista Murphy and Haywood Wright led the Lightning to a 25-15, 25-17,
25-18 Academy League romp over host Brethren Christian Tuesday.
Sage (5-0, 1-0 in league) continues a perfect season record after
top performances by Dailey, who had 13 kills and 14 digs, Vista
Murphy, who had eight kills and three aces, and Haywood Wright, who
had eight kills.
Estancia unbeaten
* TENNIS: The Estancia High girls tennis team swept visiting
Saddleback, 18-0, in a Golden West League match Tuesday.
At the No. 1 singles, Ellie Edles set the tone for the Eagles
(8-2, 5-0 in league) in a 6-0, 6-0, 6-0, victory over Nancy Tran.
Cathy Pittman and Sage O’Toole took over at the No. 1 doubles,
winning all sets against Yamchuti-Tong, Pary-Navarro, and
Hoang-Aguilar.

Lightning surge, 17-1
* TENNIS: Sage Hill School’s girls tennis team won an Academy
League match in a blowout Tuesday over Whitney, 17-1. The Lightning singles players won all nine of their matches and lost only five
games. Sophomore Ashley Adams lost only one game in her three matches
for Sage (9-2, 5-0 in league).

* WATER POLO: Estancia High’s boys water polo team lost Tuesday in
a nonleague match to Mater Dei at Costa Mesa High School, 17-5. Chad
Kunert led the Eagles with two goals in the losing effort.
Estancia (5-3, 1-0 in league) plays host to La Quinta in nonleague
play Thursday.
Chadwick prevails, 9-5
* WATER POLO: The Sage Hill School boys water polo team fell, 9-5,
to Chadwick in a nonleague game Tuesday.
Beau Caillouette scored three goals for the Lightning, while Chase
Caillouette and Chris Mazzo each had one. Danny Harold recorded five
saves for Sage (6-5).
Newport defeated
* GOLF: The Newport Harbor High girls golf team fell to Foothill,
221-254, Tuesday at Costa Mesa Country Club.
Tiffany Kim shot 46, Kendall Horn and Ali Grace shot 47, and
Brittney Phillips shot 53.
The Sailors fell to 0-7, 0-2 in the Sea View League, and face
Aliso Niguel Thursday.
OCC falls by one
* SOCCER: Despite a quick start, the Orange Coast College men’s
soccer team fell, 2-1, to host Irvine Valley College in an Orange
Empire Conference game Tuesday.
OCC freshman Ian Cone scored in the second minute, giving the
Pirates a 1-0 lead.
In the final 10 minutes, which included five minutes of extra
time, IVC (5-3-1, 1-1-1 in OEC) scored two goals, handing the Pirates
(7-3-3, 2-1-0) their first OEC loss.
