Burroughs is 2-0 in league play

Burroughs 11, Canyon 7: The Indians won their second straight
Foothill League match Thursday, defeating the Cowgirls on the road.
Burroughs is 2-0 in league.
The Indians were paced by singles player Stephanie Arroyave, who
swept, 6-0, 6-1, 6-0. In doubles, the team of Nicole Carothers and
Sarah Aguilar went, 6-1, 6-0, 6-0.
Burroughs began league play Tuesday with an 11-7 win against Saugus.
“It’s nice to get the two wins in league in our first two
matches,” Burroughs Coach Roy Bernhardt said.
Burbank 12, Hart 6: The Bulldogs opened Foothill League play
Tuesday with a victory at home.
Michelle Han swept at No. 2 singles, 7-5, 6-2, 6-3, and the No. 1
doubles team of Siripa Chakavarnmongkol and Melissa Medina also
swept, 6-1, 6-4, 6-1, for Burbank (2-6).
GIRLS’ VOLLEYBALL
Providence d. Holy Martyrs, 25-12, 25-6, 25-9: The Pioneers had
little trouble earning a win in their Liberty League opener Tuesday
at home.
Heather Hansen had 14 kills and four aces, Vanessa Amran had 16
assists and Natalie Kasbarian had 12 assists for Providence (5-0,
1-0 in league).
Burbank d. Glendale, 25-13, 25-15, 25-17: The Bulldogs continued
their fine nonleague play Tuesday with a win at Glendale.
The win improved Burbank to 6-0. The team had just four wins last
season.
