The Huntington Beach Mighty Mite Chargers put together a complete
effort on both sides of the ball, and the result was a 34-0 shutout
of the Long Beach Bulldawgs in Pop Warner football action.
The lopsided win in Long Beach kept the Chargers perfect for the
season. Huntington is now 4-0.
Robert Rice rushed for two touchdowns and returned a punt for
another score. Steve Hernandez rushed for a pair of touchdowns and an
extra point. Shad Harris rushed for two scores on conversion runs,
and Daylan Harmeyer passed for an extra point to Philip Knapp.
Knapp also had a big game at linebacker. T.J. Sutake did an
“awesome” job at cornerback, said coach Rick Hernandez, and defensive
lineman Bryce Blanco, center Jared Fuga and tackle Chris Faas turned
in solid performances.
Huntington will go after win No. 5 Saturday when it hosts La
Puente at 12:30 p.m. at Edison High.
