Girls under 9
The Irvine Lasers Girls Under-9 bronze west team put together two
more wins in Coast Soccer League action. The Irvine Lasers defeated
the Rancho Santa Margarita Soccer Club, 6-0. Brynn Motal who had
three scores. Hailey Hite, Anna Chin and Katie Craig each scored
goals. In their second game, the Lasers also beat the Fury Futbol
Club from Aliso Viejo, 6-0. Emily Martinez scored twice. Brianna
Westrup, Nicholle Frei, Brynn Motal and Karina Mickelson each scored
goals in the Fury match. Iola Favell, Loren Littlefield and Lauren
Smith all contributed to the win. The Lasers are undefeated in league
play.
AYSO Region 120
Boys under 12
Golden Bullets 3, Blue Plate Specials 3: The Bullets went up
against the Specials in a very evenly played match. The Bullets came
back from a 3-1 deficit to tie the game in the last 30 seconds of
play. Goals were scored by Tanner De Berry, Alex Chairez, and Alex
Martinez. Strong defense was played on both teams.
Girls under 10
Scorpions 3, Blue Tigers 1: In the first quarter as Claudia Huerta
worked herself free from the defense and goalkeeper to put the
Scorpions ahead 1-0. Later in the same period, Huerta scored again on
a solid kick that hammered the back of the net. Just before halftime,
Jordan Page reacted quickly to a free ball from Judith Gonzalez and
angled a shot into the goal to provide the Scorpions all of the
points they would need. The second half was a determined
demonstration of defense and close scoring opportunities, Bree Adams,
Dominique Beltran, Crystal Zamora, Mary Garza were key components of
the attack. Olivia LeValley was solid in goal and Kyra Page played a
key role on the defense. Amy Heil and Daniella Amador both
supplemented the attack with very accurate corner kicks that led to
more scoring chances.
Scorpions 2, Green Lightning 2: The Scorpions and the Green
Lighting played to a 2-2 tie on Wendesday. In the first period, after
receiving a beautiful crossing pass from Dominique Beltran, Olivia
LeValley scored the first goal of the game into the back of the net.
In the third period, the score was equalized when right forward
Judith Gonzalez slipped past the defense, and ripped a scoring shot
into the corner of the goal. Throughout the game, midfielder Amy Heil
dominated the action, and kept the ball in the control of the
Scorpions.
Region 57
Girls under 16
CdM 2, Newport 1: Trailing 1-0 at halftime, CdM turned on the full
speed button, and managed to edge out Newport. Breezy Brewster scored
the first goal. Later in the match, Julie Kramer slammed home the
winner. Great midfield play by Erica Penneuri, and brilliant defense
by Taylor Rhodes and sisters Arianna and Alix Condon stopped Newport
in the second half.
Girls under 14
Flaming Pepperoni: The Pepperonis played their best game of the
season so far. Natalie Rempalski scored three goals, Jaden Heinecke
and Katelyn Baker both scored a goal as well. Molly Vorwerck did an
amazing job passing. Torrey Attyah continued to be the “Energizer
Bunny” and played the whole field tirelessly. The defensive game
finally came together. Power stops and cannon kicks by Victoria
Burkhead and Leyla Hezar, added tothe wall created by our two
goalkeepers Courtney Davison and Amy Arnesen. versatility of Blair
Camarillo, Reede Dahlfors, Vanessa Rager, and Kaela Schreck all
displayed versatility by playing multiple positions.
Boys under 10
Revolution 4, Galaxy 2: Stephen Von Der Ahe scored the first two
goals, while Tyler Hague tallied the last two. Protecting the net in
goal the last quarter was Jack Van Dalsaam who made three diving
saves. Strong defense was played by Kent Ham, Nicholas Lukow and
Kaden Ebbinga. Lorenzo Espinoza, Henry Fenmore and Parker Ainsworth
controlled the midfield.
Silver Spartan, Revolution: Camden Blower scored a hat trick. Andy
Paulsen and Ryan Greenwald also added goals. The midfield was
controlled by Matt Leis and Josh Anderson. Defense was stout and led
by Benjamin Chadwick, Daniil Cheadle Micheal Rouleau.
Girls under 10
Blue Dolphins: The Dolphins showed great team work and
sportsmanship. Goal keeper Alyssa let no balls pass. Ashley scored a
powerful goal from the outside. Breena had midfield breakaways, and
almost scored several times. Cambria gave a solid midfield
performance and nearly put in a goal. Karina controlled the entire
field scoring multiple finesse goals. Lauren gave a solid defensive
performance. Finally, Sydney scored multiple goals with great ball
control.
Girls under 8
Tigers, Blue Waves: The Tigers had a great game with goals scored
by Abigail Klein, Alyssa Anderson, Mackenzie Morsey, and Paige
Nelson. Lauren Kobayashi and Madeleine Francis both saved several
goals and helped set up some smart plays. Makena Martin and Tia
DiGiovanni provided strong defensive plays and some outstanding
passes.
Boys under 8
Silver Bullets: The Bullets played a great defensive game.
Goalkeepers Jake Meyers and Trenton Rhodes each had three saves. Nate
Padgham and Leyton Bond had two saves apiece. James Kratzberg and
Logan Naddy had great defensive plays. Leif Hellgren assisted on a
goal scored by Robert Drobka.
Girls under 6
Peach Puppies, Blue Diamonds: The Peach Puppies had a strong game
with goals scored by Sabrina DiGiovanni, Rachel Davis, Kelly
Kobayashi, Caroline Taketa, and Isabella Rhee. Kendall Fryer,
Stephanie Beder, and Sophie Habibion worked hard on their passing and
assisted several of the goals. The Blue Diamonds kept the game
exciting, including Erika Anderson, Audrey Ackerman, and Bentley
Nesbit. They played hard with teammates Dylan Matesky, Isabelle
Ferre, Madeline Chow, and Sarah Duarte.
Teal Tornadoes, Peach Ponies: The Teal Tornadoes played vigorously
against the persistent Peach Ponies on Saturday. Leila Modjtahedi
made a tenacious first goal. Claire Danner, Goldi Eisenberger, Carly
Micheal, and Emily Spain bravely defended their goalie box. Sarah
Reynoso showed determinatio shootingon goal until she made score.
Danielle Sparling Emily Spain excelled on defense. Goldi Eisenberger
and Carly Micheal both had beautiful attempts at the goal.
Boys under 6
Red Rockets, Green Light Sabers: Three goals were scored by Morgan
Cortens. Henry Wilde, Alexander Taxman and Max Caliger each added
goals. Assists were made by Matthew Keasey, Evan Siegel and Charlie
Jacobs. Thomas Vannis blocked multiple goal shots and played
excellent defense.
Silver Sharks: The Sharks had another great game. The Sharks
displayed good continous passing and defense. Ryan Meyers played with
fire to match his red hair. John Brudder scored a great goal from the
corner.
Boys under 5
The Rockets played a great game with goals being scored by three
of their six players. Nick Vandalsem, Tyler Seaton, and Shane Premer
all scored. Nick Thompson, Matthew Fanticola, and Will LeBeau played
great defense.

Girls under 12
Bad News Butterflies 2, Dill Pickles 0: The Butterflies shut out
the Pickles with goals scored by Maddie Grant and Kelly Torres. Katie
Gaitan made a great crossing pass to Torres for the assist.
Denfensively, Karli Leal had 6 saves the first half as goalie. Sara
Hamilton, Kendall Walker, Megan Farley, Christina Lugo, Kelsey
Pearson and Maddie Erdossy kept the ball on the attack most of the
game. Second half goalie Nicole Perrier kept the ball out of the net,
aided on defense by Page Keys, Taylor Morgan and Jamie Darling.
Boys under 12
Newport Stingers 6, Newport Killers 1: Ryan Cerrato scored twice
for the Stingers. Tyler Machado , Ryan Schroth, Arturo Navarro,Tynan
Yanaga each scored goals. Stellar defense came from Hollin Alhart,
Eusebio Mendoza, and Kyle Singer. Kyle Regan, Kevin Oswalt, Kevin
Rakestraw and Ayrton Logan all added big kicks. Max Phillips and
Izaak Lofgren made overall contributions to both offense and defense.
Girls under 10
Crazy Eights 2, Surfer Chicks 1: The Crazy Eights edged the Surfer
Chicks 2-1. Reo Nathan scored first for the Crazy Eights with a well
placed kick off a rebound from a shot on goal by Analysa Vivanco.
Rachel Whitelegge, the goalkeeper, held the Surfer Chicks scoreless.
Jessica Ochoa, Jenna Jarvis, Kellie Melendres added great defensive
support. On offense, the second goal was scored by Analysa Vivanco,
assisted by Julia Frei. Alex Vasquez made several saves as
goalkeeper, including an incredible diving save off a hard shot by
the Surfer Chicks. Midfield support from Brooke Meer and Riley
Rickman along with last minute help from Mackenzie Gaddis rounded out
the offense.
The Cotton Candy Crew 3, Banana Splits: The crew bounced back from
last week’s loss with a 3-0 win over the Banana Splits. With four
minutes gone in the first quarter, midfielder Libby Knight hit a
streaking Nadine Lefler who scored with a right footer. Knight stole
a ball in the second quarter, and passed ahead to Erin Barth who beat
the Splits keeper on the left. Goalkeeper Taylor Kalatschan and
defenders Evelyn Stephans and Cassidy Davis continually drove the
ball into scoring position. Center midfielders Kenya Avila and
Natalie Ward hit streaking right and left mids Rachel DiGiambattista,
Matilda Higman and Kayla Wynne on several breakaways. The Crew’s last
goal came on a beautiful crossover move by Ward who beat the Splits’
goalkeeper with a hard right foot to the opposite corner. The Cotton
Candy Crew is now 2-1.
Purple People Eaters 7, Bulldogs 1: The Purple People Eaters went
3-0 with a hard earned victory. The Eaters did most of their scoring
in the first half. Molly Manser scored first for the Eaters.Just
before the end of the first quarter, Makayla Swies scored. Kathryn De
La Torre was assisted by Mallory Gyulay as well as scoring solo. The
Eaters offense produced two second half goals. Mallory Gyulay scored
on a solo drive that began at midfield, and ended in an unassisted
goal. Gabby Mangano scored unassisted after a solo drive that started
from midfield. Rowan Fredrikson put the Bulldogs on the scoreboard
with her 2nd quarter goal. Shoshawna McKinney and Leah Van Dyke
contributed great defensive efforts for the Eaters.
Spongebobs 1, SurferGirls 1: Team Spongebob played with alot of
heart Saturday. Abbey Picket waited till the fourth period to score
the tying goal. The defense led by Natalie Molstad, Taylor Long and
Hailey Smith was stingy all afternoon. Sophia Jefferies and Haley
Cleveland showed tremendous hustle. Savanna Baron, Regan Rutterand
Laura Mariano played their mid field positions to perfection. Amanda
Sheppard was a wall in the goal.
Boys under 10
Green Geckos 3, Blue Marlins 3:
Antonio Rossi had solid saves in the first half for the Geckos.
Peter Conde passed to Riley Gaddis who scored the goal that tied the
game at the half. In the second half, Will Hinkleman scored the
Geckos second goal on a break away from a goalie kick from Patrick
Halle. Adam Armbruster played a solid defensive game and passed well.
In the third quarter, Riley Gaddis scored the third goal for the
Geckos. David Esquibel and Joe Janssen moved the ball well the entire
game. Charlie Crook had several saves in the fourth quarter.
Tigers 4, Tidalwaves 4: Tigers Jehu Jogwe and Max Gamboa scored
the goals, being assisted by Parker Young and Duke Walker. Helping
with offense was Cole Chambers, Jonathan Jenkins and John Redoutey.
TJ Tarazevits, Sawyer Farmer, and Austin Lemoine played defense. Luke
Mueller and Daniel Pham made several goalkeeper stops.
Quiksilver 5, Arsenal 0:
The Quiksilver team had goals from Campbell D’Eliscu, Zach
Buggeln, and Brandon Rawsonin the forst half. The Quiksilver defense
of Rory Fleming, Alex Kerr, Mike Lugo, Daniel Ross and David Schaefer
managed to keep the ball from nearing the goal. Cole Sorensen and
Kyle Zimmerman helped goalie Bobby Kearns keep the Aresenalsfrom
scoring.
Girls under 8
Green Lime Leopards vs. Yellow Jackets:
Courtney Cunningham, Sydney Cole and Peyton Espley-Jones played
well on offense. Paris Pratt and Emma Griffith used their speed and
good passing ability in midfield. Hayley Taggart and Erin O’Conner
played solid defense. Emily Halphide was strong at goalkeeper and
stopped several shots.
Blue Angels, Surfer Girls: Strong offense was played by Karly
Kilmer, Isabella Navarretta, Emma Robertson, Megan Keys and Lauren
Loucks. The Angels’ goal was well defended by the strong defensive
play of Amanda Lacher, Reilly McVey, Emily Peschong and the goalies
Aolani Torrey and Delany Kording.
Boys under 8
Predators, Orange Crush: Avery Rowe opened the scoring for The
Predators with two goals followed by the first of two by the skillful
Dillon Murphy. Alex Forman dazzled down the left wing, while Blake
Vander Veer and Shane McCullum pressured from mid field. The
Predators needed excellent defending from Alden Burke, RJ Reid and
Davis Clement to handle Carter Scott and his hard-working Orange
Crush teammates. Shane Mitchell and Cole O’Neil completed the final
scoring for The Predators with timely runs from outside the area.
Predators, Blue Dragons: Alex Forman opened scoring when he
skillfully dribbled the ball across the Blue Dragon penalty area and
scored a well-taken left-footed goal. Despite their hard work Dillon
Murphy, Avery Rowe, Cole O’Neiland and Shane Mitchell were all left
empty handed offensively. On defense, the Dragons counterattacks paid
off with a second half goal, after several shots were blocked with
keen defending by Dominic Ripke, Alden Burke and Blake Vander Veer.
Shane McCallum served well in goal again for The Predators.
Blue Falcons, Green Monkeys: Ryan Young started out in the first
half as goalkeeper for the Falcons making exceptional saves. In the
fourth quarter, Young scored a goal assisted by Matthew Brodie. Chase
Braun scoredfirst goal of the game. Michael Clark and Kel Franco kept
the Monkeys away from the goal with their strong defensive line
throughout the entire game. Luis Mora dominated the Falcons offense,
scoring two goals in the first half the game. Sam Launder showed off
his goalkeeping skills with phenomenal saves. The final goal of the
game was made by Cooper Hendrix.
Blue Crew, Pirates Boys: Jeremiah Sheldon scored two second half
goals. Goalkeepers Matt Lightner, Jeremiah Sheldon, Philip Bradbourne
and Dante Amodeo played flawlessly. Jack Rapillo, Andrew Laidlaw and
Andrew English controlled midfield with many defensive stops and
offensive breakaways. Morgan Lunsford and Alex Lobel contributed with
key defensive stops.
Girls under 7
Green Grasshoppers, Butterfly Pumpkins: For the Grasshoppers, Beth
led the offense with five goals, and was assisted by Chloe, Katie,
Elise and Maggie. The defense was led by Kendall, Camille and Alicia,
with several exciting stops in goal from Genesee.The Butterfly
Pumpkins were offensively led by Olivia Burg and Alyssa Wilkens.
Wilkiens assisted goals by Heather Roberts, Zoe Conley and Nicole
Sanchez.A solid defensive effort featured Elizabeth Wilson, Kendall
Machado and Saylor Nedelman. Blue Angels, Ladybugs: Holly Halperin
and Rebecca Szulga made great passes that lead to goals. Mackenzie
Mowery, Caroline Batcheller, and Katie Robinson each scored goals.
Alex Henderson, Kelly Sandberg and Carly Sharp played great on both
offense and defense in the team effort.
Jenna Eakin and Laura Henke both made several diving saves in the
goal. Destry Comp, riley De Castroverde and Rayna Richardson,
demonstrated excellent dribbling as they moved the ball upfield.
Laura Mackenzie and Carol Noeggerath excelled on defense.
Red Volcanos, Sassy Green Dolpins: Jackie Singer started as the
Red Volcano’s goalie in the first half of the game making several
awesome saves with the help of her defenders Katie Hendrix and Malia
Putnam. Emily Root scored goals. Lily Williams and Amanda Walker kept
the ball out of the goalkeeper’s box. Marissa Cislaw and Amanda
Tapfner in making a goal a piece. In the fourth quarter, Elise
Rimland and Callie Spooners scored back to back goals.
Boys under 7
Green Dragons vs. Sharks:
Green Dragon Corbin Joyce scored an inspiring goal. Connor
Kincaid, Spencer Neal, Kevin Palmer, Ridge Kneal showed their skills
on offense, while Ben Crawford, Chad Deegan, Jack Frederikson and
Garret Donath tenaciously defended the goal. The Sharks were led by
Jackson Faber, Max and Anthony.
