Sound studios sell for $2.85 million

Two audio post-production facilities, totaling 13,583 square feet,

were sold to two new owners for music mastering and to house

production equipment for rent.

Russ Tinsley, founder of Echo Sound Services, sold the two

facilities, at 4109 and 4119 Burbank Blvd., for a combined total of

$2.85 million. Technicolor Sound Services, which rented the two

studios, is moving its operations to Hollywood.

Eddy Schreyer, owner of Oasis Mastering, bought 4109 Burbank Blvd.

for $1.2 million, and will use the 6,033 square-foot facility for

music mastering.

David Rosen, owner of absolute Rentals and Wordlink Digital,

bought 4119 Burbank Blvd. for $1.65 million. Absolute Rentals will

use the 7,500-square-foot, two-story office and post-production

facility for housing rental equipment and will lease several rooms in

the facility to production companies looking for short-term space.

Buena Vista Games licenses Unreal Engine 3

Burbank-based Buena Vista Games will team up with Epic Games’

developers for multiple, next-generation Buena Vista Games projects,

in an agreement that was announced Tuesday.

The first game under the agreement will use Epic Games’ Unreal

Engine 3 to produce a game based on the “Turok” franchise and will be

developed by Buena Vista Games’ new Propaganda Games studio in

Vancouver, British Columbia. Epic Games Inc., is based in Raleigh,

N.C., and is the pioneer of the Unreal Engine 3, a cutting-edge

graphics and a best-of-breed toolset.

Distributors to join forces against pirates

Warner Home Video and Universal Pictures International announced

an agreement Tuesday to distribute each others’ titles in China and

Russia respectively, in an effort to provide a legitimate alternative

to pirated videos in both markets.
