Chen sparks Lightning
Sophomore Justine Chen carded a 1-over-par 36 to earn medalist honors
and lead the Sage Hill School girls golf team to a 241-303 Academy
League victory over Oxford Academy Monday at Strawberry Farms Golf
Club.
Chen carded an eagle and two birdies for Sage (5-1, 1-0 in
league), while junior Ema Koh (46), freshman Sarah Anderson (49),
junior Natalie Kraft (52) and sophomore Madison Gillis (53) also
scored.
Sage plays Ocean View at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday at Strawberry Farms.
Eagles top Mustangs
* TENNIS: Estancia High freshman Ellie Edles swept at No. 1
singles to lead the host Eagles to a 13-5 Golden West League girls
tennis victory over crosstown rival Costa Mesa Monday.
The Eagles lost only two singles sets to improve to 5-2, 2-0 in
league.
Costa Mesa fell to 2-3, 0-2.

Trojans best Sea Kings
* GOLF: Michelle Drucker shot 4-over-par 40 to pace the Corona del
Mar High girls golf team, but University prevailed, 210-219, in the
Pacific Coast League match Monday at Strawberry Farms Golf Club.
Nike Park was medalist for Uni (33), which is now 1-2 in league.
Jessica Milner (41), Katie McKittrick (43), Jonna Kim (47) and
Kelly Moorhead (48) also scored for CdM (4-1, 2-1 in league).
Warburg wins crown
* TENNIS: Sam Warburg defeated top-seeded Wayne Odesnik of
Florida, 7-5, 6-4, in the men’s singles final of the Costa Mesa Pro
Classic Sunday at Costa Mesa Tennis Center.
Warburg, a recent Stanford graduate, topped the 32-player field.
In the doubles final, Scott Lipsky and David Martin, the No. 1
seed, defeated the No. 2-seeded Australian tandem of Raphael Durek
and Daniel Wendler, 6-4, 6-4.
The Costa Mesa Pro Classic is part of the United States Tennis
Association Pro Futures circuit.

* RADIO: The first “Blue and Gold Report” airs today at 5 p.m. on
KUCI Radio/88.9 FM.
The program, hosted by UCI men’s basketball and baseball
play-by-play announcer Mark Roberts, will include interviews with UC
Irvine Academic & Life Skills Coordinator Marsha Gonzaga, men’s
soccer player Cameron Dunn, women’s volleyball player Whitney Pavlik
