Five named National Merit Scholars
Approximately 16,000 semifinalists were named in the 51st annual
National Merit Scholarship Program, including Laguna Beach High
School students Jamie Hancock, Rachael Marcus, Coleman Moore, Piper
Mount and Kevin Tran.
Marine Mammal Kid’s Club starts
Pacific Marine Mammal Center will launch its annual after-school
Kid’s Club program starting today from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. The club
meets one Friday a month at the marine mammal facility, 20612 Laguna

Cub Scout troops forming
Boys in first through fifth grades will have an opportunity to
join a Cub Scout troop at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Laguna Beach

Laguna parents club launches
The Laguna Beach Parents Club is a new organization for families
dedicated to creating a supportive environment to raise children.
A Kick-Off Family Social is planned from 4 to 7 p.m. Saturday at
Bluebird Park. Food will be provided; bring your own beverages.

Boys & Girls Club Community Spirit Awards
The Boys & Girls Clubs of Laguna Beach held its first Community
Spirit Awards event on Sept. 13.
Gregg Diganci of Wingnuts Restaurants received the volunteer of
the year award. Individual volunteers: Annel Anaya, Marilu Cortes,
Lauren Forbes and Tom Sanders.
