Breakers work overtime for win

Nolan Strout scored an unassisted goal in an overtime shootout,

allowing the Breakers to defeat the Rink Rats, 2-1, at Coast 2 Coast

Inline Hockey Center in Huntington Beach. The victory keeps the

Breakers alive in Campbell Division postseason play.

Neither team could score through the first two periods. Kyle

Breznau scored off an assist from Austin Heilman for the Rink Rats in

the third period, and Ian Gibbons scored an unassisted goal for the

Breakers.

David Wellander had 12 saves for the Rink Rats, and Ethan Higbee

had nine saves for the Breakers.

In other Campbell Division postseason action:

Roadrunners 5, Dry Ice 3

The Roadrunners outscored Dry Ice in the final period to stay in

contention for the postseason tournament title.

Goals by Chad Sasaki and Riley Draghi in the third period spelled

the difference in the match. Draghi also scored the first goal for

the Roadrunners, and Robert Becker and Peter Skowron each scored

once.

Sasaki also had an assist, and Trent Coats finished with eight

saves.

That scoring offset a three-goal performance by Dry Ice’s Austin

Koss. Luke Winstead had 11 saves.
