South Coast Code Red picked up another victory by posting a decisive
2-1 win over Futbol Club Bayern Sunday in an under-14 girls’ club
soccer matchup.
Code Red struck early in the match and never trailed. After a shot
by Erika Longoria went off the Bayern goalie, Kelly Mitsumori was
positioned perfectly to pick up the rebound and post the game’s first
goal in the opening minute of play.
The Code Red midfield -- led by Osiris Ceja, Andrea Ecker, Alli
Budd and Alison Hensley -- kept up the offensive pressure, along with
forwards Kirsten Marony and Breanne Justice.
Later in the first half, Rebecca Cruz took advantage of an open
goal to post the second Code Red score.
Bayern closed the gap by scoring on a direct kick near the corner
flag in the second half, but Code Red’s defensive team, led by goalie
Tiffany Van Tress, didn’t give up another goal.
