Newport Beach residents Jamie El-Erian and Steve Milligan have been
elected to the board of directors for Court Appointed Special
Advocates of Orange County, a nonprofit organization that provides
advocates for children who have been removed from their parents’ care
because of abuse, neglect or abandonment.
El-Erian, an attorney, has has assisted the organization with
reaching foster children on its waiting list.
Milligan and his wife have provided leadership for the group’s
annual Pumpkins and Pancakes event at South Coast Plaza. Milligan is
the chief financial officer for Western Digital.

Orange Coast College will induct three former students into its
Alumni Hall of Fame in a ceremony Sept. 29.
The inductees are Inonge Mbikusita-Lewanika, the Republic of
Zambia’s ambassador to the United States; Paul Frank, director and
head designer of Paul Frank Industries; and former Major League
Baseball player Brent Mayne.
Mbikusita-Lewanika graduated from the college with an associate’s
degree in home economics in 1962. She has worked with the United
Nations Children’s Fund, has served two terms in the Zambian
parliament, and was ambassador and special envoy for the president of
the Republic of Zambia.
Frank was a student at Orange Coast College from 1994 to 1996.
Paul Frank Industries, his $100-million design business, sells
clothing, accessories and watches.
Mayne played baseball at Orange Coast College in 1987 under his
father, Mike Mayne, who was a baseball and football coach at the
college for 28 years.
Brent Mayne went on to play for two years at Cal State Fullerton
and then enjoyed a 15-year career, playing on seven big league teams.
