TV boosts tourism

Flea market planned to help victims of Bluebird landslide

Village Laguna will host a flea market from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Saturday, October 15 to raise funds for the Bluebird Canyon slide

victims. All proceeds will be donated to the nonprofit Laguna

Resource and Relief Center, which has been collecting funds for

Bluebird residents affected by the slide.

The flea market will be held in the parking lot of the

Neighborhood Congregational Church on Glenneyre Street at St. Ann’s

(opposite the Women’s Club).

Items for sale will include antiques, collectibles, furniture,

children’s toys and clothing, adult clothing, electronics and more.

of the flea market.

More slide-damaged homes to be removed from canyon

Nine more homes damaged in the June 1 Bluebird Canyon landslide

will be demolished.

Eight Flamingo Road homes were granted city demolition permits in

August. A large home at 925 Oriole Dr., which was never occupied,

also received a demolition permit in August, according to city

building records.

Republicans to host City Manager Ken Frank at meeting

Laguna Beach Republicans will welcome City Manager Ken Frank to

their 7 p.m. September 21 meeting at the Aliso Creek Inn, 31106 Coast

Highway.

In addition, representatives from Congressional candidates Marilyn

Brewer and John Campbell -- who are seeking to fill the House of

Representatives seat vacated by Chris Cox -- will be present.

Frank will discuss the Bluebird Canyon landslide and what the city

needs to do before the winter rains, including what federal and state

funds are available to help. $5 for non-members, free for members.

Civic group to hear about plans of design review task force

The South Laguna Civic Assn. will hold a special meeting to hear

proposed plans to improve the design review process. Several months

ago, the City Council appointed a task force to study the process,

with the goal of making it less contentious. Members of the task

force will explain their recommendations, answer questions and get

reactions. The meeting will take place at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the

South Coast Water District, 31592 West St.
