Boys’ basketball back at Boys & Girls Club
Registration currently is open at the Boys & Girls Club of Laguna
Beach for the kindergarten through eighth-grade boys’ basketball
league.
Interested youngsters can register in person at the clubs’ main
branch, which is located at 1085 Laguna Canyon Road.
No mail-in registrations will be accepted.
Practices begin in November, and the regular season starts in
December.
All participants must be members of the Boys & Girls Clubs of
Laguna Beach. The club membership fee is $125 per year and allows
access to general club programs at the main branch.
The cost per player is $75 and includes a new uniform.
Parents interested in coaching can fill out an application while
registering their children. League sponsorship opportunities are also
available.

Team tennis players wanted
The Laguna Beach Breakers 12-and-under advanced team has openings
for female tennis players for the upcoming fall season.
To be eligible, players must remain under 12 years old through
Dec. 15, 2005.
Matches during the season are played at 1 p.m. on Saturday
afternoons, and team practices are from 5 to 6:30 p.m. each Tuesday.
In addition, tennis classes and individual lessons are available
for beginner through advanced players of all ages.

Breakers teams ranked in CIF polls
Five sports teams from Laguna Beach High have been ranked among
the Top 10 in their respective sports in the first fall CIF-Southern
Section rankings.
Laguna’s boys’ cross country team, which won a state championship
last year, is ranked second in Division IV.
The Breakers trail top-ranked Orange Lutheran.
The girls’ cross country team is ranked fourth in Division IV,
behind No. 1 Orange Lutheran, No. 2 Harvard/Westlake and No. 3
Paraclete.
The girls’ volleyball team, which plays this weekend at the Dave
Mohs Tournament, was ranked second in the Division IV-AA poll.
Marymount heads that poll.
In the Division I boys’ water polo poll, Laguna comes in at No. 8.
Players sought for Junior Team Tennis
Junior Team Tennis is looking for local players ages eight to 14.
The season runs September to Thanksgiving.
