Eagles handle Tustin with ease
Estancia High senior Heather Morton swept in singles and two Eagle
doubles teams also swept in the school’s 15-3 nonleague girls tennis
win over host Tustin Monday.
The senior tandem of Sarah Muradian and Krizia Tonin, as well as
senior partners Susan Cloud and Elizabeth Armstrong won all three
sets against the Tillers.
Estancia evened its record at 1-1, while Tustin fell to 0-2.
Estancia visits El Modena Wednesday at 3:15 p.m.
UCI sitting 13th
* GOLF: The UC Irvine men’s golf team is in 13th place after two
rounds of the Mid Pines intercollegiate at the Mid Pines Golf Club in
North Carolina.
The final 18 holes are scheduled today.
Sophomore Kenny Kim is in 33rd place to pace UCI individuals. He
is 1-over after posting rounds of 68 and 77.
UCI sophomore Garrett Sapp and freshman Tim Cha are tied for 48th
place at 3-over.
Sailors finish sixth
* GOLF: The Newport Harbor High girls golf team finished sixth
among 12 teams at the Ayala invitational Monday at Los Serranos Golf
Club in Chino Hills.
Sophomores Kendall Horn (20-over-par 94) and Ali Grace (95) were
the top performers for the Sailors, who face Corona del Mar today at
2:30 at Newport Beach Country Club.
Toreros top Anteaters
* SOCCER: Host San Diego scored twice in the second half to pull
away for a 3-0 nonconference men’s soccer victory over UC Irvine
Monday night.
The Anteaters (1-2-1) equaled the Toreros’ 14 shots, but the hosts
(2-0-1) were more productive.
Ryan Mathy had three saves for UCI.
Jan Prochazka, Adam Mariani and Tannen Wells scored for USD.
