U.S. Bank names top commercial banker
U.S. Bancorp, headquartered in Minneapolis, announced Friday that
Steve Takei has been named to U.S. Bank’s top commercial banking

Bank’s Newport Beach office.
Takei is slated to report to Todd Hollander, the bank’s market
president for Orange County and the Inland Empire. Takei’s most
recent experience was as a senior vice president in Bank of America’s
healthcare group. Takei, who lives in Laguna Niguel, earned his MBA

UCI names competition after Newport law firm
The UC Irvine Paul Merage School of Business announced Wednesday
it would name its business-plan competition after Newport Beach law
firm Stradling Yocca Carlson & Rauth.
The school agreed to rename its competition after the firm
provided a donation to fund the competition’s prizes and
administrative costs.
The size of the donation was not disclosed in the announcement.
The competition is an eight-month project that requires
participants -- who are not required to be UC Irvine business school
students -- to develop a plan for a new company. The team that wins
first prize in the annual competition is awarded $15,000.
In this year’s competition, the winning team was called Unicom,
and team members worked on a plan involving enhanced cell phone
technology.
