BURBANK PUBLIC LIBRARY LITERACY SERVICES
The Burbank Public Library is looking for volunteer tutors who can
provide one-to-one tutoring in basic reading skills to adults who
speak and understand English but read and write below an eight grade
level. Volunteer tutors meet twice a week for a minium of six months
with an adult learner. Must be 18 years or older. For more

BURBANK PUBLIC LIBRARY YOUTH LITERACY
The Burbank Public Library is looking for volunteer “Ready to
Read” tutors who can tutor children 9 through 12 years old. Tutors
must help children who need help with reading, phonics, sight-word
and fluency skills. Tutoring will take place twice-a-week, one hour
per session, Monday through Friday from 3:30 to 6 p.m. at the Burbank
Central Library, 110 N. Glenoaks Blvd., Burbank. Tutors must be 18
years old and must register for a 10 hour workshop. Workshops will be
offered Sept. 1 from 3 to 7 p.m.; Sept. 6 and Sept. 8 from 3 to 6
p.m. at the Burbank Public Library Auditorium.
THE COLONY THEATRE
The Colony Theatre in Burbank is looking for a volunteer
coordinator. The person must be friendly, accommodating and organized
with excellent communication skills and plenty of free time to help.

SOCIETY DISCOVERY SHOP
The American Cancer Society Discovery Shop and offices, 500 N.

THE GREATER LOS
ANGELES ZOO ASSN.
The Greater Los Angeles Zoo Assn. (GLAZA), as part of its docent
and volunteer programs, offers hands-on, behind-the-scenes
opportunities for adults and students. General volunteer
opportunities include helping at special events, working at the
children’s zoo and helping staff feed the animals. For more

BURBANK TEMPORARY AID CENTER
Burbank Temporary Aid Center, 1304 W. Burbank Blvd., needs
kindhearted people to interview clients or to work in the pantry
sorting food and preparing food packages for clients. Training is

PROVIDENCE ST. JOSEPH
MEDICAL CENTER
The Ralph M. Parsons Blood Donor Center at Providence Saint Joseph
Medical Center needs blood donors. All blood donations will be used
to help patients in the San Fernando Valley. Donation hours are 8
a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Thursday; and 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

RETIRED AND SENIOR
VOLUNTEER PROGRAM
The Retired and Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) seeks volunteers
55 and older to assist in various programs, including computer and
Internet assistance, the Simple Will Program, and free electronic tax
return assistance. Duties will include arranging and scheduling
appointments, arranging reservations, selling gift certificates,
collecting donations and mailing out paperwork. For more information,

BURBANK FARMERS MARKET
Volunteers are needed from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturdays at the
Burbank Farmers Market at Orange Grove Avenue and Third Street.
Duties include checking on the farmers and stamping coupons. For more
