Players get a chance to help a good cause at event
With gasoline above $3 a gallon in many places, the cost of driving
is increasing every day.
However, that driving could get a little more comfortable -- not
to mention a little more cool -- for a lucky individual.
An upcoming charity golf tournament at De Bell Municipal Golf
Course will give athletes a chance to drive off in a new Ford Mustang
for scoring a hole in one.
The classy car is just one of the prizes that could be had at the
Burbank’s Finest Golf Tournament on Sept. 23. The event will have a
shotgun start at 10 a.m.
Proceeds from the tourney will got to benefit the girls’ and boys’
high school golf programs at Burbank and Burroughs.
“It is really for a good cause,” said Mike Krose, one of the
organizers of the tournament. “The money will go directly to help
both schools’ teams.”
The cost to participate is $125 per individual and $500 for
foursomes. The event is also looking for tee sponsors, corporate
sponsors and donations of goods and services for the event.
“We have had some businesses that have already donated items and
services,” Krose said. “Body Balance of Burbank (a company that helps
golfers with their swing) is giving a free session to every golfer
taking part in the tournament. But we could use some more sponsors.”
Along with the golf competition, there will also be a barbeque
following the tournament.
