Costa Mesa police arrested four out of five people suspected of an
early-morning robbery in the parking lot of a fast food restaurant
Saturday.
The robbery happened near the Jack in the Box in the 1200 block of
Baker Street at about 3:15 a.m., Lt. Dale Birney said. He said five
people wielding a hammer, tire iron and knife between them approached
four others and stole an unknown amount of cash and a large speaker
box. Birney said no one was hurt during the theft and that the
robbers headed toward McClintock Way after the crime.
Police patrolling McClintock Way saw a group of people run in
different directions as they rode along the street, Birney said.
After police set up a perimeter around the area, four Costa Mesa
residents were arrested and booked on suspicion of robbery and
conspiracy to commit robbery.
Police arrested Reuben Gonzalo Flores, 22, Jesus Torres Gomes, 20,
Adrian Pina Manrique, 24 and a 16-year-old boy who was taken to
juvenile hall, Birney said. The adults were held in Costa Mesa.
A description of the fifth suspect was not available.
