Band to swing
into senior center
The Blue Pacific Swing Band, an 18-piece group that focuses on
swing music from the ‘30s, ‘40s and ‘50s, will play from 7 to 10 p.m.
Aug. 26 at the Oasis Senior Center.
Every month, the center holds an evening dance and brings in
popular local bands.
The concert is open to people of all ages. Tickets are $5 in
advance and $10 at the door and includes a free dance lesson.
Refreshments are served.
The center is located at 800 Marguerite Ave., Corona del Mar. For

Concert series to
welcome Cowboys
This week, as part of the Newport Beach City Arts Commission’s
Concerts in the Park series, the Kahuna Cowboys Jug Band will perform
a variety of tunes.
The Kahuna Cowboys play All-American music including western
swing, Hawaiian, blues, jazz and cowboy tunes.
Doctor D, Rustlin’ Russ and Lahaina Les use humor and a bevy of
eclectic instruments, such as a washtub bass, whiskey jug, musical
saw and a washboard. o7

free concert from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Aug. 28 at Irvine Terrace Park at

Assisted-living facility
to cook up breakfast
Avalon at Newport, an assisted living facility and Alzheimer’s
community for senior citizens, invites the public for breakfast from
7:30 to 10 a.m. Aug. 24.
The public is invited to join the staff and residents for coffee
and breakfast, tour the community and see the apartments.
Avalon at Newport is at 393 Hospital Road in Newport Beach. For
