SCHOOLHOUSE ROCK

A pop culture phenomenon comes to the musical stage. The

Emmy-winning 1970s Saturday-morning cartoon series that taught

history, grammar, math, science and politics through clever, tuneful

songs has been making a comeback. The musical, directed by Terri

Miller Schmidt, will be staged Thursday through Sunday afternoon at

the Newport Theatre Arts Center, 2501 Cliff Drive, Newport Beach. All

BOLSHOI BALLET

The Bolshoi returns to Orange County with two full-length ballets.

A bored young man drives through a mysterious tollbooth into the

magical kingdoms of dictionopolis and digitopolis, where he is caught

in a literal war over words and numbers. “The Phantom Tollbooth” --
