Local earns cup honors

Noah Brewster, who will begin his senior year at Laguna Beach High in

September, has been named an honorable mention player at the So Cal

Cup III.

The baseball tournament, played at Long Beach City College, pitted

four All-Star teams from Orange County, the Inland Empire, Los

Angeles County and San Diego County in round robin play.

Each team was composed of a 30-player roster.

The Orange County All-Star team, to which Brewster belonged, went

undefeated in tournament play.

Jeremy Burrell of Culver City High and Miguel Flores of St. John

Bosco were named the co-Most Valuable players at this year’s event.

In attendance at the tournament, put on by Baseball Resource, were

15 major college baseball coaches and 12 Major League Baseball

scouts.

Brewster was one of four Orange County players named Honorable

Mention, and just one of eight county players named to the

all-tournament team.

He was named to the 2005 All-Pacific Coast League first team in

the spring and led the league in home runs, tied for most RBIs and

led Laguna in batting average, slugging percentage and just about

every other offensive category.
