FIREMED FEES
The City Council agreed to make an annual adjustment to fees
charged by the city’s ambulance program. The fees are tied to the
rates charged by the Orange County Emergency Medical Services Agency.
WHAT IT MEANS
The cost of basic ambulance transportation will go up $50, to
$581.50, while mileage costs will be adjusted a quarter to $13.25.
Oxygen services will move up $2.50 to $65.50, and whole medical
supplies will increase $2.25 to $25.75.
LABOR DEALS
The council approved two more labor contracts with management in
the fire and police departments. The new contracts will cover the two
groups until July 30, 2006.
WHAT IT MEANS
Under the new deal, both groups will receive two 4% raises, one
that goes into effect retroactively on the first of the year, and
another that takes place on Sept. 24. The city will increase the
money it pays to the police department’s dental and life insurance
plans.
