OPEN GATHERINGS
An Open Gatherings salon will be held at 7:30 p.m. at the
Unitarian Universalist Fellowship, 429 Cypress Drive. The topic for
discussion will be: How to become a grassroots organizer. Open
Gatherings is an evening of conversation open to the public. Free

POETRY WORKSHOP
A free poetry workshop will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. at Laguna
Beach Public Library, 363 Glenneyre St. Poets of all experience
levels are welcome. Participants should bring at least 10 copies of a

BLUEBIRD BENEFIT CONCERT
Neighbors for Neighbors holds a concert to benefit the victims of
the Laguna Beach Landslide. Featuring Ken Garcia, Toulouse
Engelhardt, Commonsense, Fernando Ortega and more. 12 to 7 p.m. at El
Morro Elementary School field, on the oceanfront. Tickets, $25 for
adults, $10 for students with I.D., children under 12 free.

SUNDAY
ADULT BASKETBALL
The public is invited to play ball at Laguna Beach High School.
Full-court pickup games are played in the school’s gym from 9 a.m. to
noon Sundays. Many former high school and college players
participate. The games are sponsored by the city’s recreation
department. Cost is $2 at the door.
LANDSLIDE FUNDRAISER
A fundraiser for landslide victims will be held from 4 to 8 p.m.
at the Sandpiper, 1183 S. Coast Highway. The Blues Offenders will
perform and there will be food, a live auction, raffle and no-host
bar. Tickets are $50 per person and are available from the Laguna

ART LECTURE
A panel of collectors represented in the Laguna Art Museum
exhibition “Laguna’s Hidden Treasures” will discuss collecting at 1
p.m. at the museum, 307 Cliff Drive. The lecture is free with museum

MONDAY
SUMMER ENGLISH COURSE
The Laguna Beach Unified School District adult program for
learning English as a second language will be held 8:30 to 11:30 a.m.
Mondays through Fridays in room 90 at 550 Bluemont St. The class is
free; participants can register with the instructor. Class materials,
