Seal lion barge must go
We believe the barge should be removed.

Sea lions were here first
I feel bad for the sea lions; they were there first. They are cute
and attract tourists. I think people should get ear plugs. The barge
should stay. Leave the sea lions alone.

Sea lions bark all night
They should remove the enhancement.
The sea lions are very loud and they bark all night long. I wanted
to confirm it is a problem.
ROBERT HINRICHS

Get rid of the barge
Yes, they should remove the Pacific Fisheries Enhancement.
TONI DOANE
Balboa Peninsula
Sea lions aren’t ones that should leave
I am totally against the removal of the enhancement. White sea
bass were almost extinct before it was placed there.
It allows the wonderful fisherman to catch fish.
It amazes me that residents are upset about the noise because it
is not that loud.
Tell those people to move out of Newport.
CAROLINE CLARK
Newport Beach
Sea lions won’t be loud much longer
The barge should stay.
The fisheries are hurting so much they should keep anything that
helps.
People should be happy they live by wildlife. The sea lions will
be off to breeding islands soon anyway.

Tsunami warning worked for him
I thought the tsunami warning was very effective. I saw it on
several channels.
I do think Newport Beach should discuss what to do if there is
such an emergency.
GORDON PATE
Costa Mesa
Warning didn’t cross language barrier
I do not think it was effective. It was on one TV station and they
were speaking in Spanish, not English.
CHARLEY HAM
Newport Coast
Warning would have saved his parents
My parents are 87 years old and they live on the peninsula. I
think the warning was very effective because I would have gone and
got them if it was serious. Good job.
JIM CARNS
Costa Mesa
Not enough details came with warning
I do not think it was effective. It was not clear how serious the
warning was or where to go in an emergency. What is high enough to be
higher ground?
I think it would be a good idea if the paper put together a map
that detailed areas at risk and what areas would be safe.
LEONARD DAVIS
Newport Beach
Better warning needed for older residents
No, it was not because I did not hear about it all.
My daughter called me and we left for higher ground. Some people
do not watch television or have a computer.
We need a better warning for the elderly.
ROSEMARY MORRILL
Balboa Peninsula
How about a helicopter warning?
I don’t watch television and I had no idea there was a tsunami
warning. They should send out a helicopter that announces the warning
over houses via intercom. It was not effective.
LINDA MELLEN
Balboa Peninsula
Simple answer: What warning?
What warning? We were watching the City Council meeting and they
took a recess, I guess due to the warning, but they said nothing.
If we had not changed the channel we would not have known there
was one.
PATRICIA LILLEGRAVEN
Balboa Island
Just where would a tsunami come ashore?
I thought that the warning issued on TV was excellent but wonder
what method would have worked if it had occurred during the day when
most people would not have been watching TV. I live in a coastal
community, Corona del Mar, but on a hill, about 150 feet above sea
level.
I would be interested in information as to how high above sea
level would be safe in the most severe case.
In other words, how far up the hills would homeowners have to be
evacuated?
I can understand that many areas in Newport Beach would be in
immediate danger such as Balboa Peninsula, and areas near the harbor.
What about the residents who live on the bluffs overlooking the
ocean?
