‘BREATH OF SPRING’
Ah, the British have a way with farces! When a maid with a shady
past is suspected of stealing a mink sole, a former Army major and
several other lodgers of a boarding house endeavor to return the fur
without being caught. They take such delight in the secretive scheme
that they form a syndicate for stealing and returning furs, all for
the excitement of the adventure. Written by Peter Coke and directed
by Terri Miller Schmidt, the play will be performed at 8 p.m.
Thursday through Saturday and at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at the Newport
Theatre Arts Center, 2501 Cliff Drive, Newport Beach. Tickets are $20

WINE TASTING
Every week at Bayside Restaurant, guests will be introduced to
five new wines, each highlighting a specific varietal or wine region.
This week’s tasting will be “Livendi and Honig,” two Napa Valley
producers, presented by a knowledgeable and insightful wine sommelier
to teach guests and answer questions about each wine featured.
Located at Bayside’s outdoor terrace with a view of the Newport
Harbor, guests will also be able to order from a $4.95 tapas menu.
The tastings are held from 5:30 to 8 p.m. at 900 Bayside Drive,
Newport Beach. Cost is $15 per person; reservations are strongly

GYPSY’S KISS
A live Irish music performance by the five-member traditional
Irish band that plays Irish and Celtic songs, featuring an eclectic
mix of vocals, fiddle, Irish flute, whistles, hammered dulcimer,
guitar, bass and percussion, from 4 to 7 p.m. at The Harp Inn Irish
Pub and Restaurant, 130 E. 17th St., Costa Mesa. Admission is free;

MOVIN’ OUT
The Tony Award-winning musical conceived, choreographed and
directed by Twyla Tharp and based on songs by Billy Joel will

“THE FAMILY MELODRAMA, VAUDEVILLE AND ICE CREAM SOCIAL”
A melodrama production for the entire family is being staged by
Orange Coast College’s Theatre Department. The production -- which
includes a comedic melodrama, a children’s joke contest, several
vaudeville acts and a delicious ice cream treat -- will be performed
from 6 to 9 p.m. in the college’s Drama Lab Theatre, 2701 Fairview
