The local talent pool ran deep during the 2005 Sunset League baseball

and softball seasons, and several players have made their way onto

the all-league first teams.

Justin Sellers of Marina was named player of the year in baseball,

Edison sophomore Justin DeMarco was named the league’s rookie of the

year.

In Sunset League softball, Marina junior Krystal Heinle -- who

came off knee ligament and meniscus surgery in December -- came on

strong to capture the league’s pitcher of the year award for a third

straight year.
