William George Thompson Sr.
A memorial service for former Newport Beach resident William
George Thompson Sr. is pending at Riverside National Cemetery.
Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., Mr. Thompson was a lieutenant colonel in
the United States Air Force, serving for 23 years. He lived in
Newport Beach from 1969 through 2000 before moving to Cathedral City.
Mr. Thompson died June 14. He was 81.
He was a member of the Masonic Lodge, a lifetime member of Balboa
Ski Club and a lifetime member of National Fraternity of Military
Pilots Order of Daedalians. The Ski Club is holding an informal
memorial service at its 6 p.m. meeting Tuesday.
Mr. Thompson is survived by his daughters, April Thompson, Donna
Adresen, Patricia Johnson and Ayn Carey Eckstein; his sons, Eric
Thompson and William G. Thompson Jr., ; his sister, Barbara Boardman;
and 11 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
