The Laguna Beach 14-and-under mixed water polo team posted a big
victory at its own pool as it crushed the Wolf Pack, 13-3, in age
group water polo action.
Laguna’s first-quarter scoring came from the arm of Annika Dries,
who scored her team’s first three goals en route to a 3-1 lead.
Dries also scored once in the second quarter, and an additional
goal by Dylan Conroy and two by Hannah Faith pushed Laguna’s goal
total to seven.
Three blocked-shot attempts by Brett Thompson allowed Laguna to
take a 7-1 lead at the half.
Laguna padded its lead in the third quarter as Dries, Thompson and
Robert Chew all scored. Kacky Brown took over goaltending duties from
Thompson at the start of the second half and didn’t allow the Wolf
Pack a goal in the period, as the host team extended its lead to
10-1.
In the fourth period, Chew, Thompson, and Brown all scored for
Laguna.

Laguna fell behind, 7-6 after three quarters, as Dodson and David
Brunner each scored in the quarter. But the team came on strong in
the fourth quarter, getting two goals each from Brunner and Morgan
Brick and key blocks from goalie Hunter French to pull out a 10-9
win.
In its 13-2 loss to Newport Beach, Brick and Alcone each scored in
the third quarter to account for Laguna’s scoring.
In its final game of the tournament, Laguna fell to Capo Valley,
12-7.

to be the difference in the match.

one from his own goal in the fourth quarter when he played goalie,
and Zachary Riegler scored once.
