Here are some items the Planning Commission will consider Monday.

RESTAURANT KARAOKE

Live music and karaoke would be allowed seven days a week at

Player’s Pizza on West 19th Street near Harbor Boulevard, if the

commission grants a permit.

The restaurant sells alcohol with food and now is allowed to have

live bands of up to four people play Thursdays through Sundays until

midnight.

The new permit would allow karaoke as well as live bands, and

music could be performed every night.

WHAT TO EXPECT

The restaurant hasn’t generated previous noise complaints, so

planning staff members suggest approving the expanded entertainment

permit.

MASSAGE BUSINESS APPEAL

The zoning administrator rejected a permit to allow a massage

business to open at Adams Avenue and Harbor Boulevard because the

available parking, which it would share with an adjacent shopping

center, is insufficient.

The 1,100-square-foot facility would offer foot massage, chair

massage and reflexology.

The business would require at least 73 parking spaces, but only 71

spaces exist, so the administrator denied the permit. The applicant

appealed to the Planning Commission.

WHAT TO EXPECT

Planning staff members recommend upholding denial of the permit

because the business could generate added traffic and exceed

available parking.
