Rushing-led Red Sox a 12-0 winner

Jacob Rushing was perfect from the plate and tough to hit on the

mound, and his performance helped the Red Sox in a 12-0 victory over

the Pirates in Seaview Little League Majors Division action.

The Red Sox claimed the division championship.

Rushing went three for three with a triple and scored three runs.

On the mound, he struck out nine batters in five innings of work to

get the win.

Dominic Granado had two hits, and Jay Rowerdink and Matt Thiede

each had two-run singles for the Red Sox.

For the Pirates, Nick Pedevilla doubled and singled, and Drew

Daily and Gerald Marcucci each had a hit.

Yankees 6, Cubs 5

Ruben Munoz tossed a complete game and recorded eight strikeouts

to notch the win for the Yankees.

Brennan Fitzmartin went two-for-two with two RBIs, Trevor Becker

had a pair of hits, and Brandon Hastings and Adam Munoz each added

RBI singles for the Yankees.

Vincent Wetzel of the Cubs had a run-scoring triple on his

birthday, Ryan Ortolf went two-for-two with an RBI and Tony Boozan

had a sacrifice bunt.

Red Sox 3, Angels 0

Jacob Rushing had a two-run double, Jonathan Steele had two hits

and drove in a run, Scott Orel doubled and struck out five, and

Dominic Granado nabbed the win in relief.

Kaleb Pritchett and Aaron Rakhshani each singled to account for

the Angels’ two hits.

Cubs 1, Pirates 0

Perry Clitheroe notched the win as the Cubs held off the Pirates.

The pitchers’ duel featured Clitheroe, Steven Malone and Ryan

Ortolf for the Cubs, and Nick Pedevilla and Drew Daily for the

Pirates.

The Cubs got a bunt single from Clitheroe, Jack Koeller and

Malone, who stole home for the only run of the game.

Daily and Pedevilla had hits for the Pirates.

Yankees 11, Angels 6

The Yankees had their offense in high gear, yet needed seven

innings to subdue the Angels.

Adam Munoz smashed two doubles, had an RBI single and scored three

runs. Eric Sickle also doubled twice and singled; Allon Rhoten had a

two-run double and singled twice; Trevor Becker and Brennan

Fitzmartin each doubled and Ruben Munoz had two hits, two RBIs and

scored three runs.

Trevor Becker got the win and Yankees reliever Kyle Curtis struck

out five in 2 1/3 innings of work.

Charlie Miller doubled twice, scored two runs and pitched six

innings with 11 strikeouts, and Lane Hepburn added a single for the

Angels.

Yankees 8, Angels 1

Trevor Becker came up big on the mound and was equally impressive

at the plate in leading the Yankees to victory.

Becker belted a triple and also doubled at the plate. On the

mound, he pitched a complete game with 12 strikeouts and didn’t allow

an earned run.

Ruben Munoz and Shaun Thompson each had RBI doubles and Adam

Munoz, Allon Rhoten and Eric Sickle each added RBI singles for the

Yankees.

For the Angels, Lane Hepburn doubled and singled, Charlie Miller

singled twice, Kaleb Pritchett singled and Dominic Artiga turned a

double play.

Pirates 2, Angels 1

Jacob Yusko hit a leadoff home run as the Pirates shaded the

Angels.

Nick Pedevilla singled and scored a run on offense and also struck

out nine without allowing an earned run in a complete game victory.

Charlie Miller had two hits and an RBI, Corey Hammond and Michael

McClymmonds-Nguyen added hits and turned a double play for the Halos.

Red Sox 8, Cubs 3

Matt Kibby hit a two-run home run, and Jonathan Steele had an RBI

double among his two hits for the Red Sox.

Jordan Sobelman doubled and Jacob Rushing pitched a complete game

with eight strikeouts.

Steven Malone had a two-run double, and Ryan Ortolf had an RBI

single and struck out five in three innings of work for the Cubs.
