Boys & Girls Clubs gets grant
The Boys & Girls Clubs of Huntington Valley received a $25,000 grant
Monday from the Helping Kids Achieve program. The grant will help
finance the Twilight Education program, which assists immigrant
families in Huntington Beach, Fountain Valley and nearby areas.
The Twilight Education program includes infant care, preschool
education, tutoring for school-age children and literacy and English
classes for parents. Families involved in the program also have
access to dental care and immunizations and can receive referrals for
free and low-cost health services.
The Helping Kids Achieve program was begun in 2004 by the Orange
County Community Foundation’s Draper Family Community Fund. The
program was designed to fund tutoring and college awareness programs,
according to the Orange County Community Foundation. The foundation,
based in Irvine, was founded in 1989. The foundation distributes
charitable funds established by families, individuals and others to
nonprofit groups.
