3 SCATS score big

Three Level 10 athletes from SCATS Gymnastics in Huntington Beach

scored high marks and earned medals at the recent nationals

competition.

In the girls’ competition -- the 2005 Level 10 Junior Olympic

National Championships were held at the Ontario Convention Center --

Kiara Redmond won silver medals in the all-around competition and on

uneven bars. She also finished fourth in the nation on the floor and

beam, and fifth on the vault.

Nicole Day won the silver medal on bars, and a bronze medal in the

all-around. Amy Defilippo rounded out the group with a fourth-place

finish on beam.

In the boys’ Junior Olympics National Championships competition

held in Houston, Jason Chu finished fourth in the nation in the

all-around. He brought home the bronze medal on floor, was fourth on

rings and placed fifth overall on pommel horse.
