Standards pay
Ketta Brown Laguna Beach High School PTA
The school year is beginning to wind down. Everyone is breathing an
audible sigh of relief now that testing is behind them. The seniors
are looking forward to their new adventures away from Laguna Beach
High School and the rest of the student population is looking on with
envy. Things are as they should be.
The PTA is currently working on reinstating an academic excellence
recognition program for LBHS. Gold cards for those students with a
3.5 GPA for fall semester have been issued. These provide students
with discounts for purchases at various merchants in town. In
addition, a diligent group of folks is investigating an extra little
“award” for those students. Amazingly, more than 50% of the student
body is eligible for these perks. PTA is funding this in the hopes of
increasing recognition for students who maintain high academic
standards.
On a final note, be sure to peruse the newspaper in early June for
the list of scholarship winners from the senior class. You will be
amazed at the number of recipients and the generosity of our local
community.
