Exhibition to help Morton

Mesa Verde Tennis Center will host an exhibition doubles match at

noon Sunday in hopes of raising money for the family of Glenn Morton,

Orange Coast College’s men’s tennis coach who remains hospitalized

after an automobile crash in Costa Mesa on April 27.

Devin Bowen, a former Estancia High standout who then played at

Texas Christian University, along with Tim Leonard, will face Andy

Stewart, a teaching pro at Mesa Verde, and Brian Morton, Glenn’s son

who concluded his UC Irvine career last week.

Admission is free and the event is open to the public.

Randy Myers, Mesa Verde’s director of tennis, said the idea for

the exhibition arose after brainstorming with Glenn Morton’s brother,

Scott.

“Glenn needs our support,” Myers said.

Donations to help the Morton family will be accepted. Make checks

payable to: Scott and Brian Morton on behalf of Glenn Morton.

Donations may be delivered to the club at 3000 Clubhouse Rd., Costa

Mesa, 92626 or mailed to Scott Morton at 20882 Hunter Lane,

Huntington Beach, 92646.

Myers visited Glenn Morton at Western Medical Center earlier this

week.

“His eyes are open and he is tracking people that come into the

room,” Myers said of Glenn Morton. “He is off the respirator and can

squeeze a ball.”

Glenn Morton had been in a coma since the collision. He was

driving his Volkswagen van on Adams Avenue April 27 when another

vehicle veered into oncoming traffic and collided head-on with

Morton’s van.
