Alumni aligned

For the first time in Orange Coast College’s 57-year history, a
booster club has been created on campus for athletics.
Coast’s Physical Education and Athletics Division has established
The Coast Athletic Alumni Club.
Not only will the organization raise funds to support OCC athletic
programs, it will also provide a network for former athletes, promote
and publicize OCC athletic events and results, solicit fan support
for contests, develop a mentoring and internship program for current
athletes and recruit speakers for campus classes and activities.
OCC wants to know about its alumni so the school can better market
its athletic program by highlighting the successes of former Coast
athletes. This will encourage future student recruits to come to
Coast to compete for its teams.
The athletic department has compiled data on OCC student athletes
dating back to 1999, but would like to go further back in history.
Former Pirate athletes, or friends and relatives of athletes are
encouraged to contact OCC’s athletic director Barbara Bond on campus,
or by e-mail at [email protected].
OCC’s athletic teams have won 76 state championships over the last
57 years.
