Sailors shutout

The Newport Harbor High softball team extended its scoreless streak

to 42 innings as the Sailors lost, 3-0, at Laguna Hills Tuesday in a

Sea View League game. It marked the sixth consecutive shutout against

Newport.

Ashley Gleason gave up two hits, both in Laguna’s three-run first

inning, for the Sailors (13-11-1, 2-7 in league).

Gleason, Katie Daniels, Julianne Bass and Robin Gautschi each

singled in Newport’s four-hit attack.

The Tars hope for an at-large bid into the CIF Southern Section

Division I playoffs. The Sailors host Woodbridge Thursday at 3:30

p.m.
