BOOK STUDY

first Wednesday in May, studying the book “So You Can’t Stand
Evangelism, A Thinking Man’s Guide To Church Growth” by James R

MOSES AND THE FREEDOM FANATICS
The Children’s Choirs of Our Lady Queen of Angels will present
their Spring Musical, “Moses and the Freedom Fanatics,” on Saturday,
May 21 at 7 p.m. in the Parish Hall. This musical drama by Hal Hopson
tells the story of the oppression of the Israelite Slaves by King
Pharaoh and how God used Moses to free his people. God’s mighty power
is demonstrated in the “Plague of the Insects” (don’t miss our live
flying bugs) and the “Dance of the Frogs.” The musical is directed by
Diana Landis and staged by Andrea Monahan. Patricia Lamb accompanies
the choirs and will be joined by an electric bass, percussion, and
violin. All are invited to this fun evening. The play will be
performed at Our Lady Queen of Angels, 2046 Mar Vista Dr., Newport

CAPPELLA CANTORUM
Cappella Cantorum, the young adult choir of St. John Vianney
Chapel, is beginning its fifth year. The choir is open to students in
grades six through 12. It provides active faith participation for
teens during their high school years. Participation includes singing
at mass regularly and at special events. Rehearsals are from 11 a.m.
to 1 p.m. Saturdays in the Chapel at 314 Marine Ave., Balboa Island.

NATIONAL DAY OF PRAYER INTERFAITH BREAKFAST
The Newport-Mesa-Irvine Interfaith Council is hosting the eight
annual National Day of Prayer Interfaith Breakfast, featuring keynote
speaker Dr. Marvin Meyer, director and co-chair of the department of
religious studies at Chapman University and director of the Albert
Schweitzer Institute. The breakfast will be held from 7 a.m. to 8:45
a.m. May 5 at the Presbyterian Church of the Covenant, 2850 Fairview

BAHAI FIRESIDES
Members of the Bahai faith hold informal public discussions on

The Zen Center of Orange County offers an introduction to Zen

An Introduction to Zen workshop is being offered by the Zen Center

MEDITATION LESSONS
A free lectio divina meditation group meeting is held at 7:10 a.m.
Tuesdays at Our Lady Queen of Angels, 2046 Mar Vista Drive, Newport
Beach. Lectio is a style of meditation that includes using scripture
or a special reading as a stimulus. The Christian Meditation Group
meets from 7:30 to 9 p.m. every Wednesday at the center. The format
includes two periods of meditation with some instruction on how to
