Laguna Outreach Community Arts “Art Escapes” is at 2 p.m. today and
will feature artist Mia Moore’s handmade cards workshop.
The class is suitable for all artistic levels. Cost is $30,
including materials; class size is limited. The workshop is at the

Saturday is day to imagine and create
The Festival of Arts will host “Imagine It! Create It!”
Imagination Celebration event noon-3 p.m. Saturday. The event is
dedicated to children and adults discovering their creativity through
a variety of artistic media.
Festival of Arts artists and staff will host free hands-on
workshops: printmaking with Anne England, wire sculpture with Susan
Cox, sidewalk chalk art with Patrick Kelly, miniature stained-glass
windows with Lynn Welker, handmade dolls with Shelly Rapp Evans and
jewelry making with Pam Peterson.
Several world-famous Pageant of the Masters stage sets from
previous shows will be on display and there will be entertainment.
“Imagine It! Create It!” will be at the Festival of Arts Irvine
Bowl Park, 650 Laguna Canyon Road. For information, call Special

‘Lagunatics’ hold auditions tomorrow
Auditions for the 13th annual “Lagunatics” are 3-6 p.m. Saturday
at the No Square Rehearsal Studios at 1863 S. Coast Highway.
“Lagunatics 2005 Senior Prom” will be a benefit for the Senior Center
building fund this year.
Singers, dancers and personalities 16 and older are welcome to
apply. Appointments are preferred, but walk-ins are welcome. Bring in
a two-minute accompaniment of a favorite song.
Schedule conflicts that fall between June 2 and July 31 will be
reviewed. Rehearsals are tentatively scheduled for 6-10 p.m. Monday
through Friday, and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. No one
rehearses more than five times a week or longer than four hours at a
time. Cast must be available for all calls beginning July 23.
Performances will be at 8 p.m. July 29, 2 and 8 p.m. July 30 and 7
p.m. July 31 at the Artists’ Theater. For information, call (949)

‘My Fair Lady’ selections performed
Selections from the musical, “My Fair Lady” will be featured at a
7:30 p.m. concert Saturday, May 14. Also on the program are works of
Chopin, Mozart, Scott Joplin, Gilbert & Sullivan; and George
Gershwin’s complete “Rhapsody in Blue.”
Soprano Christina Linhardt sings the musical comedy songs; concert
pianist Jeffrey Briar plays the classical and ragtime piano works;
Linda Frank performs on the “Faery Harp.” This event takes place at
the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship Hall, 429 Cypress Drive.

Plein air painters’ exhibit and awards
Laguna Plein Air Painters Association will have its annual artist
membership exhibit 6-9 p.m. tomorrow with the awards ceremony at 7:30
p.m. The exhibit will represent 74 artist members with more than 100
works selected by guest juror Jean Stern, Irvine Museum director. The
exhibit includes figurative, still life and plein-air paintings.

Arts Commission, City Council to meet
The Arts Commission will meet with the City Council at 11 a.m.
Saturday at Council chambers, 505 Forest Ave., to review the
commission’s accomplishments, concepts for future projects and Music
in the Park.
Meet Laguna Canyon artists
Laguna Canyon Artists will have a drawing at 10:30 a.m. Saturday
to win a $75 Laguna Canyon Artist gift certificate redeemable at the
Open Studio event May 14.
The public is invited to meet the artists 9:30-11 a.m. at Wells Fargo Bank’s second-floor gallery, 260 Ocean Ave. Coffee and
doughnuts will be served. It’s also an opportunity to preview artwork
that will be auctioned at the studio event. Winner must be present to

Chicks that will make you chuckle
Lynn Epstein will present the 4th annual “Chicks to Make You
Chuckle; No Whining Allowed” comedy show at 8 p.m. May 11 at Laguna

Artists to host
open studio night
Laguna Canyon Artists will host an Open Studio Night and silent
auction 4-10 p.m. May 14, exhibiting a collection of diverse and
eclectic works, with more than 25 award-winning artists
participating.
Proceeds from the silent auction will be donated to Laguna College
of Art & Design’s student scholarship fund. Preview of auction pieces
will be on display at individual studios for ongoing bidding from 4
to 7 p.m.
The event will have live music, performance art, refreshments and
the chance to win a Laguna Canyon Artists $75 gift certificate

Free classes and fundraiser events
Dance Day performances and master classes will include fundraisers
on May 13, 14 and 15. There will be a private dinner on the beach at
the home and Nancy and Mike Meyers on Friday; a sunset reception

mothers and daughters at the Surf and Sand Hotel at 11 a.m. Sunday.

LOCA ‘s first fundraiser May 13
Laguna Outreach for Community Arts will host its inaugural
fundraiser at 6:30 p.m. May 13 at Tivoli Too!, 777 Laguna Canyon
Road. The event includes comedy club headliners, gourmet dinner, live
entertainment and a silent auction. Artists Tom Swimm, Ken Auster and
community arts co-founders Mada Leach and Anne England will donate
original works for auction. Other auction packages are valued at

Performance artist to ‘Give Blood’
Performance artist Aimee Greenberg will give four performances of
her latest work, “Dona Sangre” (“Give Blood”), a story of seduction,
betrayal, slight of hand, and cultural ambiguity, at 8 p.m. May 13,
14, 20, at BC Space, 235 Forest Ave., second floor. Tickets are $20
with a portion of the proceeds benefiting BC Space, which is
committed to presenting cutting-edge art and artists. Seating is

There can be no late seating. Note: The material is not suitable for
children under 14.
Art and tide pools explored together
Laguna Outreach for Community Arts offers “Art and Sea Adventures:
The Art of Tide-Pooling,” in collaboration with the Ocean Laguna
Foundation.
The program includes a morning of tide pool exploration with Ocean
Laguna Foundation docents, followed by a hands-on watercolor journal
art a workshop taught by Laguna Outreach for Community Arts resource
artists.
There also will be a watercolor journal, art supplies, postcards,
tote bag, refreshments and more, courtesy of Montage Resort and Spa.
Classes are from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. May 14 and 15. Meet at Treasure
Island Park, south entrance at South Coast Highway and Wesley Drive,
at the south edge of the Montage Resort, just below the parking lot.

‘Fresh Faces’ at Festival of Arts
Festival of Arts is now exhibiting “Fresh Faces” at Wells Fargo
Bank -- an exhibit designed to give the public a sampling of some of
the new artists who will be exhibiting their work at the festival
this summer.
The exhibit runs through May 20 and features the works of Steve
Bjorkman, Teri Kahan, Terrence Kennedy, Milano Liberi, R. Mike
Micklich, Linda Pirri, April Raber, Paul Renner, Bradford J. Salamon,
Russell Sasaki, Jennifer Tenace, Elaine Twiss and Noriho Uriu.
This free exhibit is part of an ongoing series of shows that the
Festival of Arts is having at Wells Fargo, 260 Ocean Ave., this year.
The Sawdust Festival has an exhibit on the main floor of the
building, while Community Art Project has an exhibit on the second
level, showing the artwork of Laguna Outreach Community Arts artists.
