SAILING CLASSES

America’s Boating Course, a full-day boating safety and knowledge

course designed for all boating enthusiasts, will be held Saturdays

through May at Newport Harbor Patrol Office, 1911 Bayside Dr., Corona

“All About Anchoring,” a three-hour lecture that lloks at

anchoring, is being offered by Orange Coast College’s School of

Sailing and Seamnaship. The seminar is scheduled from 7 p.m. to 10

p.m. May 20 at OCC’s Sailing Center, 1801 W. Coast Highway, Newport

A Varnishing workshop is being offered by Orange Coast College’s

School of Sailing and Seamanship. Course instructor Erica Christian

will offer tips for effectively tackling one of the most frustrating

of all marine maintenance projects. The session is scheduled from 10

a.m. to 2 p.m. May 21 at OCC’s Sailing Center, 1801 W. Coast Highway,

An Intermediate Lidos class is being offered by Orange Coast

College’s School of Sailing and Seamanship. Intermediate Lidos should

be taken following the completion of a beginning sailing class and is

a primer for the college’s Introduction to Shields class. Classes

will meet from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Fridays May 6 to 27 at OCC’s Sailing

Center, 1801 W. Coast Highway, Newport Beach. Registration is $120.

A Marine Electrical seminar is being offered by Orange Coast

College’s School of Sailing and Seamanship. The nine-hour seminar,

titled “Marine electrical Systems,” will cover a variety of lecture

topics. The three-part class will mmet from 7 to 10 p.m. Thursdays,

May 12 to 26, at OCC’s Sailing Center, 1801 W. Coast Highway, Newport

A Beginning Sailing class is being offered by Orange Coast

College’s School of Sailing and Seamanship. The class is geared for

people who have never sailed before or have minimal sailing

experience. Classes will meet from 5 to 8:15 p.m. Monday through

Wednesday May 9 through 18 at OCC’s Sailing Center, 1801 W. Coast

A three-day Spring Catalina cruise is being offered by Orange

Coast College’s School of Sailing and Seamanship. The cruise is

designed for sailors with at least intermediate level skills. It will

be held aboard the college’s Farr 58 cruising yacht, “Lucinda Mae.”

The crew will board at 9 a.m. May 20 and return at 5 p.m. May 22 at

OCC’s Sailing Center, 1801 W. Coast Highway, Newport Beach.
