The Huntington Beach High athletic department will host its
“Centennial Celebration of Athletics at Huntington Beach High School”
during a June 10 fundraising event.
The festivities will take place between 6 p.m. and midnight at the
Hilton Waterfront Beach Resort.
A donation of $75 per person includes dinner and dancing, a slide
show, raffle and silent auction.
Invitation to the event is extended to anyone who has participated
or contributed to the school’s athletic history in any form, current
and former athletes, Girls Athletic Assn. members, booster club
members, supporters and donors.
The Celebration committee is seeking names, addresses and phone
numbers of anyone interested in attending. It also is seeking old
photographs, trophies, plaques and any other memorabilia for display.
All donations are tax deductible and all proceeds from the event go
directly to the athletic department at the school.

Pop Warner registration
Huntington Beach Pop Warner will hold its next registration
session for its upcoming 2005 football season on May 22.
Registration will take place between noon and 4 p.m. at Edison
High. The final date for registering for the 2005 season will be June
11 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The 2004 Pop Warner football season was marked with local, state
and national achievements for the Huntington Beach chapter. Nearly
all of the Huntington teams ended the year with winning records and
reached the playoffs.
Most notably, the Junior Pee Wee Green Chargers went farther than
any team in Huntington Beach history by winning the Orange County Pop
Warner Championship, the Southwest U.S. Regional Championship and
becoming runner-up in the national championship.
Girls’ club soccer team tryouts
Code Red, a Huntington Beach girls’ club soccer team, will be
conducting goalie tryouts in May for players born after Aug. 1, 1991.
Code Red recently finished a strong, competitive season, capturing
first place in two tournaments. The team will play in the girls’
under-14 Silver Division in the upcoming fall season.
Prospective goalies should contact coach Ron Budd at (714)
962-1131 for the time and location of tryouts.
