A basic and advanced coastal navigation course will be held by the
United States Coast Guard at 6 p.m. Thursdays at BoatsUS, 16390
Pacific Coast Highway. The basic class costs $65 and will consist of
seven two-hour sessions, ending May 12. The advanced class costs $85
and will consist of 12 two-hour sessions, ending June 16.

The Shipley Nature Center tour explores the center’s planned
restoration of native plant habitat with the addition of water
conservation gardens. The event will begin at 10 a.m. Guests will
meet at the front gate to the Shipley Nature Center in Huntington
Central Park. Parking will be available in the Central Park Drive
parking lot off Edwards Street between Talbert and Slater avenues.

The Orange County Genealogical Society will meet at 11 a.m. at the
Huntington Beach Central Library, 7111 Talbert Ave. Guest speaker
Barbara Resnick will lecture on the use of library websites in

The Huntington Beach Host Lions Club will hold a pancake breakfast
7-11 a.m. at Lake Park, 11th Avenue and Lake Street. The cost is $4
